Hard Hat Award (Game #8, @ N.E. )
In the game 8 whipping at the hands of the Pats, Stiller WR Jerricho Cotchery is the winner of the weekly Hard Hat Award, given to the Stiller player who best embodies the iron-tough, hard-as-steel attitude of the steel workers inside the blast furnace of a still mill.
In a game in which most Stiller players laid down and dogged it, Cotchery gave one helluva an effort in a true Hard Hat effort. He snagged 7 passes for 96 yards, and more importantly, 3 of those grabs resulted in TDs. These weren’t gimme TD grabs, either. The first was a nifty, shift grab of a semi jump ball on a deep lob to the EZ. The third was a slick 1-handed grab on a short grosser near the GL. What makes Cotch’s effort and production all the more impressive is that he obviously is not a starter, and often goes through long spells this season without seeing a pigskin. Ever the consummate professional, Cotch was well prepared to play and contribute in this game, and the results show it.
Kudos to Cotch for winning the Hard Hat Award. Wear the Hard Hat proudly, Jerricho !
