Hard Hat Award (Game #5 @ Jets & Game # 6 vs. Balt.)
In the game 5 win over the Jets, Stiller ILB Larry Timmons is the winner of the weekly Hard Hat Award, given to the Stiller player who best embodies the iron-tough, hard-as-steel attitude of the steel workers inside the blast furnace of a still mill.
Timmons delivered some big hits in New York, which are extremely rare in this defense here in 2013. He issued a big hit on Gates on WR screen, early 3Q. Jarred the ball loose from Smith on an option keeper, but Geno recovered his own football. Drilled the RB on a carry up RT at 9:21 3Q. This is how an ILB is supposed to hit and deliver the blow, and this is what comprises a major part of a successful defense.
Not to be redundant, but Timmons was again named the winner of the weekly Hard Hat Award in the win over the Ravens in game 6. In what may have been Timmon’s best game as a Stiller, Larry played like a man possessed. He was literally all over the field and finished with a prolific 12 solos and 5 assists in a strong, vigorous effort. What is even more remarkable, was that he broke his hand late in the game, but continued to play and contribute. That, my friends, is what Hard Hat football is all about.
Kudos to Timmons for winning the Hard Hat Award, in successive weeks, no less. Wear the Hard Hat proudly, Larry !
