Re: Stillers-Chefs Postgame Analysis and Grades
I haven't posted in a while, and I tend to think that Mill is unduly harsh a fair amount of the time. But this assessment is more or less on the money. Steelers should have had 20 points at half time. KC did a great deal to give the game away - dropped passes, poor play calling, wasted time outs in the second half - thanks Andy Reid! Ben R was unusually gun shy in the second half. A "B-" performance - my assessment - won't get it done next week in New England.
P.S. Kudos to Bell, Boswell, the offensive line, Harrison, James and - for a substantial amount of the game - the defense.

Thank you Mill for the write ups. In order to win in Gillette we have to play our best game in all three phases. This slop and slather last night will make an early bed time next Sunday. I hope with all my heart Dumblin will pull his head out of his ass and play aggressive, smart, and physical football! However, after all the egg lays that have happened under his watch I will expect the worst, and hope for the best.

Re: Stillers-Chefs Postgame Analysis and Grades
This one made me laugh... "Got a Dong INT off of Dupree’s stellar belt of the QB, which popped the pass up into the air like a mortar". I got the complete visual on that one.
There is no denying that this defense is drastically improved since early in the season. Dupree has been the biggest difference maker. Here is my list in order of reasons this defense gives me optimism for next week...
1. A healthy and emerging Dupree
2. Harrison taking over on the other side
3. Hargrave taking over the middle
4. Sean Davis
5. Artie Burns
I think this is the best our offensive line has played in more than 14 or 15 years. Munchak is still the MVP in my opinion. How many times did we used to bitch about how bad our O-line was?
I think it will be a great game next week.
Oh, and Go Pens!!

Re: Stillers-Chefs Postgame Analysis and Grades
That was a dog shit game. Yeah they won, but KC is a truly inferior opponent. Would give the defense credit for stopping the run which is critical as Smith as Mill says can't throw downfield. You have to give James Harrison a Hard Hat award for this post season Mill... At his age he is playing at full speed. It enrages me that they let him go, reached for Jones, who obviously does not have the body to play outside linebacker in a 3-4 and wasted I think a top twenty draft pick on him, only to have to have Harrison come back. Credit to the O-line which solidified over the years under Munchak. Jesus, compare what Ben faced in previous years... yes he held the ball but on some plays he faced a jail break.
Shittlesburger enrages me often. I will grant of course that this team would be battling the Browns for last place if not for him, but his play over the years to call it inconsistent would not be enough. Mill says that he played scared... maybe that was good because there was only a near fuked up interception on the first play and then a horrible one in the redzone.. That is not going to work next week in Gaytriot land. If bad Ben shows up next week, you can turn it off at halftime. That long ball to Brown had me spit flying.. That weak ass shit he threw with Brown being covered by a Linebacker...
I can't see how they beat the Patriots next week. A hall of fame QB and coach against Tomlin and his merry jagoffs... Schematically, Brady has shred the Steelers over the years with better personnel than they have now... You can't play soft zones and Jesus Christ, have the Steelers ever covered New England's tight end whoever he was? And on offense, the Steelers will fuck up enough drives, settle for field goals, turn the ball over etc... I will probably be turning it off by the third quarter as I can't stand to see the Patriots celebrating as they did so often, wiping their asses with terrible towels in blow out wins...

I can see in my mind Tomlin grabbing the Patriots game plan off the shelf. Same damn one that has gotten us throttled time and time again. "OK men, we are ready for NE!"
Softee zone coverages with no pressure on Tom Brady. Never, ever, cover the TE and allow big plays on ST.

Re: Stillers-Chefs Postgame Analysis and Grades
Alex Smith's limitations are so well-known that they are almost part of his name. He can't throw deep and Reid's offense is 90% outside the hashes and within 20 yds of the line of scrimmage.
Despite this universally-acknowledged reality, the Chiefs were frequently wide open on screens and flats. The mind boggles.
This is a multi-game passing chart for Smith from Football Outsiders (yellow = drops, red = incompletion, blue = catch) that shows just how distance-limited and sideline-bound their offense truly is under Smith. Why any coach or player would worry about deep coverage is a mystery. Smith simply couldn't get it there even if a receiver were uncovered.

Thanks for the write-up and forum that is truly free wheeling.
The NFL isn't rigging games, but they are constantly pushing for the fantastic finish. Some of the refs calls were worthy only of 1970's style championship wrestling. Big monied interests are destroying this game. FU Goodell.
Let's hope O game plan is the ultimate setup of Pat's D scheme, it has been classic Haley, run it till they stop it or till it blows up in their face. Ben getting used to handing ball to Bell and then just watch him run. Steelers will need more from the 12th man to beat Bilk Bellacheat.
Texans had Braidy just wishing game was over, constantly introducing vegetarian grass diet to him. The KMA Butler has to dial up pressure schemes to get QB out of their comfort zone.Timmons, this season, has shown ability to get qb feet happy. Here's hoping he has impact extraordinaire these next 2 games.

Re: Stillers-Chefs Postgame Analysis and Grades
Nice write up, Mill. I agree with pretty much everything, except I might have given the D a higher grade. They really only allowed three scoring drives all game, one was just a FG, and the first one was a direct result of a stupid special teams call to start the game which gave KC midfield starting field position. Keep in mind they pretty much shut down the run game and the two biggest receiving threats did not have a big impact, including a big, handsy tight end, the likes of which we have been tooled by in the past. Smith, unlike Ben in this game, found a way to spread the ball around to some other guys but the Chris Conley's of the league aren't gonna beat you.
Is it possible that the whole team overlooked this game in preparation for next week? It's not an excuse, but after the ass whooping we handed them earlier this year the offensive struggles seemed odd.
I agree with PinPon, that all 3 phases will need to be tightened up for next week. Rattle Marcia Brady's cage the way Houston did, and we have a way better offense. We can win next week in Foxboro.

Re: Stillers-Chefs Postgame Analysis and Grades
A couple of points:
1.) NEWSFLASH TO N.F.L. FILMS - Younz would probably be better off installing deer stand game cameras in the Stillers' endzone, as you'd save the camera crew since they RARELY SHOW UP THERE.
2.) Win lose or whatever, I take comfort in the fact that the Stillers maintain the edge in the post season appearance category over America's Whores. That multi billion dollar investment in Jenny's World | practice stadium outside Dallass in Frisco has yet to pay any dividends. Fucking asshole - Jenny Jones.

Re: Stillers-Chefs Postgame Analysis and Grades
As always, a thorough dissection and breakdown of the Stillers...Mill could not have nailed it any better with the description of KC's offense as
"ordinary". They seemed very predictable at times and when they switched up the direction of shuffle pass to the TE or whomever ( great play by Gay on Chelsey BTW)they moved the ball effectively. A few notes:
The Stillers D will get more looks next Sunday than the hookers on Liberty Ave after a convention lets out uptown. They can respond.= with their speed. Hopefully no big plays to give up. Sean Davis's hit/flag on the receiver was fucking bullshit. He was already committed to the play and his angle had to be in the downward motion with little or no time to break the play up...
The brilliant unveiling and rolling out the return specialist dynamo in Justin Gilbert was beautiful. Almost as inspiring as the Flow Bee.
I will say the kickoff and punt coverage was better and it needs to keep improving to contain the midget in D. Lewis in NE.
Haley abandoned J James and bell when we needed them both in the red zone. He is a fucking idiot, no play action, even the god forbid bubble screen that I curse on a weekly basis. I would have stomached a few of those to break the ice in the red zone.....anything for.
Ben Ozweilburger......We are only going to go as far as he takes us. We need td's and will need them in the worst way against these Motherfuckers.....He better have his foot on the gas and not the parking brake. However, this could be the redemption for many of us who hate NE...could you imagine....
In conclusion, my screen name says it all. I can honestly say I hate these cocksuckers, their fans, their big fucking mouths and have to put up with these scumbags who come down here to live. I never knew they had fans until Belifuck and the Queen Pussy of the team #12 teamed up. It takes everything in my power to not throw haymakers in the grocery store when I see one of their jerseys. I would be happy to lose the superbowl just to know we beat these assholes in their own stadium.......what comes around goes around.....and I pray that it will. BB

Re: Stillers-Chefs Postgame Analysis and Grades
Good write-up as usual. Agree with everything you said except I don't think the holding call on the 2 pointer was ticky-tac. Their OL got beat by Harrison, then wrapped his arms around his neck like he was trying to apply a sleeper, then tackled him to the ground. If that isn't called a hold every-time, something is very wrong. Some other observations;
-Although he's done better than I expected this season, Cockrell penchant for giving up 3rd and very long's is maddening. My foot almost went through the T.V. when he surrendered that 3rd and 20 to Craplin. If Brady torches our secondary, it will be him that gets burnt the majority of the time.
- Agree 100% on Haley's grade. You can tell on some of these calls Todd wants to be the smartest guy in the room, and then clearly ends up over-thinking what is right in front of him.
-Re: A.B.'s Facebook Live stream in the locker-room after the game; I think Antonio is actually a good and decent guy, but lacks maturity and self-awareness. Not that it absolves his actions, but some of the other players that were dicking around with him should've said; "Turn that shit off! Coach is talking!" Ugh.
-On to New England. The season is already a success in my book,(not to say go out there and lose 45-14), but we're playing with house money now. Patsies are supposed to be here. Steelers aren't. Nothing to lose, everything to gain.

Thanks Mill.
Whats up with Big Ben playing like a Big Pussy? If that goon don't put up 30 plus points next week, we will get killed.
If Houston had a better QB they could of beat NE. Belincheat is going to have 15 men in the box to stop Bell.
It's going to be up to Ben!

Re: Stillers-Chefs Postgame Analysis and Grades
Thanks Mill for the analysis and thankful they won to keep the forum kicking for another week. Did not see all of the game since it was moved to late sunday night and some of us poor schmucks get up awful early to earn a paycheck. I did see the opening drive and then the KC TD. I was/am disgusted watching the 10+ yd cushion given to some receivers and saw it again on that drive. Agree with 76 about the holding call on Harrison. Saw the video and he was clearly taken down by the O lineman and it was certainly a timely penalty. And finally, I am a bit concerned that Ben has a health issue that isn't being discussed or else he is on the downside. On to Foxboro.
If one were to look back at the game thread from the Stillers-Pats game in October you will see that some(myself included) believed that game was winnable even with Laundry at the helm. Also, reading the comments post-mill analysis of that game you will see a few bonehead decisions from the commander that also contributed to the loss. Problem is the propensity for more of that is as certain as Obola leaving the House this Friday. (At least I hope so). Of Brady's 222 yds in that game about 100 went to Gronk and that wasn't until the 2nd half. At least they will not have to deal with Gronk next week. Houston proved once again that you get a little turf on Brady's clothes you got a chance. Can't really add to what everybody else already knows about what it will take next week. But damn I am glad they are still in it! BTW, someone please acknowledge they are able to see my posts. I have posted the last few weeks with nary a response. Either I ain't gittin through or I really don't know what the hell I am talking about. Even if someone just replies "yeah jackass we see your crap" that will be fine! Thanks gang. Go Steelers!

Totally whipping an inferior opponent, they play grab-ass and settle for FG after FG after FG. Stoogelin talks all sorts of bravado….until the playoffs, when he promulgates a meek, chickenshit brand of football that is so bland and conservative it makes Marty Shittenheimer look like a riverboat gambler. This is ass-puckering football come playoff time, Stoogelin-style. C-

The more I think about Brown's facepuke stunt the more it draws ire in my blood. If I am a teammate I'm pissed that this guy is so fucking in love with himself that he completely disregards the privacy and sanctity of 60+ other men in that room. It's karma that Tomlin has to eat a big slice of shit cake since he is supposed to set the standard for locker room ethics.

I too am tired of Brown's antics. From the preening that begets 15 yd. excessive celebration penalties to humping the goal post at full gallop driving his doo-dads up his windpipe, to now posting the Tomlin "motivational" speech. Quite frankly I was appalled at the way Tomlin was going on sounding like he was in the hood somewhere. And all it did was confirm my suspicions that Tomlin is one of the boys and they all know it. Gotta wonder if the only reason Tomlin gets after Brown is due to perhaps the Rooneys getting fed up with it. Don't like the patriots much, but make no mistake they have their locker room board material without even trying now.
