McLovin wants to know...
McLovin would like to pitch in his 2 cents to whine about Arians and maybe collectively we can figure this dilrod out and why we let him ruin our Sunday afternoons. Ben not picking up his Blitz reads. Ben holds the ball too long (see any one of Scalaid's millions of posts if you haven't heard that before). Santonio at home presumably smoking up the last of his dope. Colon is committing one dumb penalty after another. These are not completely Arians fault, however McLovin wants to know why Heath Miller had only 3 catches while Spaeth had zero. McLovin wants to know why Colbert burned a 1st and 3rd round picks on these guys if Steelers aren't going to utilize them...6th round tight ends can stay in and block. McLovin wants to know why Arians did not run to milk the clock iand protect the slim lead n the 4th quarter all the while going 1 for 10 on 3rd downs. McLovin also wants to know what the hell Tomlin was talking about when he said they learned their lessons from the Philly game....GIANTS RUN SAME DEFENSE DUH! Where were the draws and screens and hot reads to the tight end?! McLovin an optomist and loves his Steelers but for McLovin to be happy McLovin has seen enough and wants Arians fired this offseason.

mclovin is right in his analysis. i think the entire stiller nation would agree with you except for sca-never-laid. ben did hold onto the ball too long. ya, well that always happens but there is no excuse for arians to not call heath's number every now and then. that guy is as dependable as they come. arians is hopeless.
Re: McLovin wants to know...
McLovin a big draft guy and remembers in '05 glued to the screen praying to Old man Rooney not to let Colbert have a chance at Matt Jones. Thankfully he was gone and Steelers made right choice in Miller. But if you're not going to utilize this guy why draft him? Same as Spaeth...Stiller nation all puked when this guy drafted in the first place but why not throw him a few passes he's freaking huge if nothing else he's a mismatch problem against little safeties. But, McLovin digresses...McLovin sees pro bowl potential in Miller as a receiving tight end. With Santokeo and Hines there to distract attention ...Miller should be thriving down the middle but 3 freaking catches yesterday? Come on that's just poor game planning and play calling not to get that guy involved in the passing game against an aggressive defense like the giants.

SanTOKeo = threat
Hines = threat
nate= threat
heath = threat
matt spaeth = threat
yet, airhead ariass doesn't give love to heath or spaeth. vanilla vanilla vanilla vanilla play calling.

Homer J agrees with McLovin and his bold suggestion that Arians be allowed to continue through the end of the year, when he should either be fired or summarily executed.
Homer J is sick of vanilla. (mmmm vanilla.)
He misses gadget plays, big time. Not that you can fashion an offense around them, but he is sick of the unimaginative dumbshit game plans and play calling.

Re: McLovin wants to know...
McLovin so enjoys vanilla ice cream but not vanilla play calling. Did Arians use the same game plan he used in the Philly game? McLovin didn't see a single reverse, flea flicker, or Hines throwing a pass. McLovin would've killed just to see a few draw plays against that all out blitz. One for 10 on 3rd downs great job Brucey! Did anyone hear Aikman say that Tomlin retained Arians because Tomlin liked how efficient Arians was on 3rd down when he was the OC at Cleveland? For that matter did anybody hear Aikman say how athletic Willie Colon is? Athletic maybe but damn stupid...McLovin thinks Arians and Aikman for that matter paid a visit to SanTOKEo's pad before the game.

Once again, McLovin is correct. Aikman also said that Stapleton was the Steelers' backup long snapper. Of course, Aikman had 2,612 concussions in his career and all those bells and whistles are still going on in his head. Aikman may not be as dumb as Willie Colon, but I don't think either one would be a wonder boy on the Wunderlic.
Other teams are pinning their ears back and going after Ben. They are overpursuing, with no fear. Arians has no answer.
Vanillla Brucie wouldn't think of trying a gadget play, or putting in a few plays from the wildcat, or seeing one of the other former quarterbacks on the field (Ward and Miller) throw a pass. My dog has a bigger pair that Arians, and he was fixed ten years ago!

Re: McLovin wants to know...
Deltadweller wonders if McLovin is actually Reggie Jackson or Bo Jackson with the first person posts. I do very much agree with you on the lack of TE usage. Wasn't this the whole point of going to 2 TE sets? To threaten to actually pass to them. If you're not going to even threaten to throw to them put a tackle eligible in there to block.
Re: McLovin wants to know...
Actually, there are two major differences between my dog and Arians. My dog, who was fixed ten years ago, has a bigger set than Arians. And my dog DOES know shit.

McLovin was a Rickey Henderson fan growing up "Ricky be Ricky." In essence you're telling McLovin that with 2 tight ends staying into block Ben actually has 7 blockers in front of him and he still is getting killed back there??? Good gawd something is wrong big time...Tomlin be Tomlin betta fire him some Larry Porn and Asshat Arians.

I totally agree.
Even with an average at best line, there are ways to cover it up, especially with this many weapons. Holmes, Washington and Parker are all home run threats. Hines, Miller and Moore are dependable, clutch targets who can make plays. And Spaeth and Sweed can contribute. How many teams have that many solid options?
The simple solution should be to just get the ball to people, you know, go on the OFFENSE. There's too much waiting around and slow developing play. I'm absolutely blown away that this far in the season, the offense cannot get the ball off quickly ... and it's not all Ben's fault, although he does hang on to it too long most times. As StillMill and many others have pointed out: Why stray away from hitting Miller over the middle? It works nearly every time. I can't even think of an INT or many drops when the ball is thrown his way -- and he's great after the catch.
I'm no football football mastermind, but I'm pretty sure you throw the ball to where the defenders aren't, which shouldn't be too hard to do if 5 to 8 of them are already in the backfield. Get that ball out fast and make teams play honest.
Re: McLovin wants to know...
Of all our "threats", only Santonio can beat the jam with any regularity (why do you think we still see so many bunch sets) and have difficulty getting separation (except Nate, so he gets doubled).
Heath could be sent out more, but even when he is, Ben doesn't get the ball to him.
Parker simply is not a fluid pass-catcher.
So it's not ALL on Arians.
On thing that IS on Arians- why are there not more plays that move the pocket?
And on Anderson- what the hell happened to Ben's scrambling?

Re: McLovin wants to know...
(off the subject, but...)
No offensive efficiency
-2nd year in a row: no o-line continuity
-an all-pro RB injured over half the season
-only two WRs(one 'only' an intermediate threat)
-a QBs well-documented 'heroics'
-Rushmore
