Hines Ward time is a ticking....
I do not see Hines being around much longer. He seems to bedropping a lot of balls this season. He is still in good shape and still runs well enough but I think he is having issues with his eye to hand coordination lately. I did not see the whole Jax game but I saw Ward drop 4 passes he should have had including a TD.

Dzzzzzzzzzzzzznutz. He is still the heart and soul of the time. He still makes more plays than any other WR. Everyone thought Holmes would step up and be taking majority of plays from Hines, but it hasn't worked out that way. Hines is STILL the MAN.

While I agree that he's only got a couple more years in him, he still manages to make clutch plays for us. Until we have a new crunch-time threat, Hines is still the man.

Re: Hines Ward time is a ticking....
I agree he is still the go to guy but he has dropped a lot of catchable balls this season. Everyone smashmouths Nate but Hines has more drops this year than Nate has. I think he needs to concentrate more because number 1 receivers are not supposed to drop that many passes. I just hope it is not a ongoing thing.
Re: Hines Ward time is a ticking....
We've only played a third of our games and your getting on hines for dropping a few balls? Hines was never GREAT anyway. He is what he is. A player who overachieves and gets the most out of his limited physical ability. Hes not big, fast but his desire, toughness and work ethic makes him an asset. No receiver in the history of the game blocks like him. But has he lost a step? Of course but thats like saying the steelers only have a decal on one side of their helmet. DUUUUUUUUUUUUUH

Re: Hines Ward time is a ticking....
Scabbyaider you are such an idiot. Hines holds just about every receiving record on the steelers and he was never great. I guess to be great you have to be a freak, criminal, or have some other asset besides playing the game well. Yes he is a GREAT blocker but he's not great. He is also a GREAT route runner which in most cases negates the fact that he doesn't have great speed. bt hell Nate and Holmes have unreal speed but where are they at. My point was that he has dropped a lot of passes that normally he wouldn't. why? Everyone gets older and loses some physical attributes but the art of catching is not usually lost with age it usually gets better. And the term overachiever means that the person has achieved more than what was expected by some stupid critic such as yourself who has no idea of what anyone is capable of, but will judge by what little they know and from stupid facts such as 40 time and Ht Wt. I guess Lynn Swann was an overachiever too as well as Rice Stallworth, Greene, Blount, Campbell (Earl), etc etc. Too bad in your world your probably an underachiever. And No I don't believe anything you say about what you claim to be.

@Jballshurt when they are slapping your *ss
What was inaccurate in my assessment of Hines? Just because he holds most of the Steelers records makes him great? He holds those records because when Swann and Stallworth played we HARDLY passed the ball. I watched Swann and Stallworth play and Hines would be on the bench if they played in the same era (TRUST THAT). Hines played Qb among other positions at Georgia so to be a good wr in the NFL is I'd say OVERACHIEVING. This guy bashes Hines for dropping balls and then I post and point out the obvious THEN he proves hes a walking oxymoron and posts something opposite than his post JUST to go against what I said. I'll tell ya I am in these bloggers heads.
Lastly, who cares what anyone believes about me? I certainly dont sir.

Re: Hines Ward time is a ticking....
I never said he was equal to or better than stallworth or swann but just because he hasn't been arrested or been wife beater or had numerous problems getting along with other team mates or the NFL like some of your idols that you feel are great.
I never contradicted myself idiot. Just because I said that he had dropped more passes this season doesn't take away from what he has done. Jerry Rice dropped some passes late in his career also.
And as far as over achieving goes like I said b4 that is an opinionated statement based on some idiots opinion of what he is capable of.

Re: Hines Ward time is a ticking....
Hines has dropped some passes that he would normally catch. I'll give you that. But he has caught many passes in his career he had no business catching - making Ben look pretty good in the process (see the finger-tip catch in the SB). He hasn't dropped any easy passes. They have been tough catches in traffic.

When did I idolize such players. SHOW ME. Somebody has issues. When you make the statement "He holds most of the Steelers records and hes not great" your implying hes better dont start backpedaling like a DB now. Your an emotional guy and you think with your emotions and not your mind, therefore the DUMB comments like wife beaters, criminals etc. I'm the one who got on management for signing Najeh and called him a woman beater. Again, big mouth SHOW ME, where I ever CONDONED such behavior. I think how you REALLY feel about certain people is being manifested sir. No comparisson between Hines and Rice (why you mentioned him is beyond my comprehension) But Im an idiot?? Hines Ward IS an over achiever whether you believe it or not doesnt matter.

Re: Hines Ward time is a ticking....
Let us see there is a Dallas Cowboy site with a member with same name and avatar so apparently a cowqueer fan. You always refer to Ben as "your QB" so it is apparent that you are a fan of another team and I do not believe that 2 sites same screen name and same avatar to be 2 different people and the Dallas Cowboys organization has a rep for employing felons. i.e. Michael Irvin to name just 1.
Re: Hines Ward time is a ticking....
hines ward is having the best season out of all the steeler WRs and has come up big. he's got a few good years left in him, he's the man
Re: Hines Ward time is a ticking....
Theres a Dallas site with a member named Scalaid6? and Has the same avatar? SHOW ME! Show your proof if your telling the truth. I wanna prove to this WHOLE site your a LIAR. Name the site so we can all go and view this site sir. Like I said before SHOW ME where I defended such players. You CANT, so now you resort to lying. WOW. What are you doing on a Cowboys site anyway? Again, I'LL BE WAITING for substantiation of Scalaid6 on a Cowboy site sir.

hines is GREAT and he always has been. maybe he's a #2 or #3 fantasy receiver, but he's been the number one here--and would have been on the vast majority of other teams--for a long time.

Hines will retire as a Steeler and will still be a big part of the team. I don't think the team needs to put everything on his shoulders. The Steelers have a number of big players. Hines is doing what he is there for. Go Hines!

82,
WATCH THE HOUSTON GAME.
Ward ain't done.
He'll be around a while longer, and as Holmes develops into a #1 WR, Hines can become the #2.

Lasik might not be bad idea, maybe he should stop squinting all the time...
Re: Hines Ward time is a ticking....
Sorry guys, that ticking sound was Keith Rivers of the Bungles, having his clock cleaned.
And that ringing was Rivers having his bell rung.
Hines Ward is the heart and soul of this team. With a rebuilding offensive line and no punishing runner, he is the one player on the offense who plays smashmouth Steeler football. He is the enforcer. He kicks ass. He is tradition alive and on the field.
He may have dropped some passes this year, and got banged up a bit last year. But like a fine wine, he just gets better to those who appreciate such things.
Listen closely. There's another ticking sound. Know what it is?
It's number 86, preparing to explode into somebody else this coming weekend... ...Ask Rivers, ask Orpheus Roye, ask any number of players who've been on the receiving end. They'll tell you......if they can remember what hit them!

Re: Hines Ward time is a ticking....
Rivers out for the year. The only thing that will slow Hines down is a suspension. Hopefully none will be forthcoming since the hit appeared to be legal. McLovin applauds Commish Goodale for trying to rid the league of thugs like Pacman, but his policing of the game itself by dishing out heavy fines for hits is getting old. 'Twill be interesting to see what kind of fine Hines gets this time.
