Steelers sign WR Justin Hunter
The Steelers have signed free-agent WR Justin Hunter to a 1 year deal.
Hunter, who is 25 years old and stands 6'4 and weighs 203 lbs, has played 4 seasons in the NFL. He has amassed 75 receptions for 1,305 yards, (16.7 yards per catch), and 12 TDs. He is a former 2nd round pick out of the University Of Tennessee.
I like this signing. Hunter hasn't played a ton in the previous 4 seasons, but he has made the most out of whenever he was in there. With a HOF level QB and A.B. and Bryant out there, I envision him catching his share of passes this upcoming season. A solid move that helped off-set the letdown of re-signing Landry Jones.

I think they signed him as insurance since Bryant cannot lay off the hippie lettuce. I actually have higher hopes for Coates than I do Bryant.

You need two good WR. We have 84. We need one between Bryant, Coates and Hunter. I think they will push each other and one will eventually perform at a very high level.

Personally, I think acquiring Hunter was a sign that Coates's stock has fallen dramatically within the team.

I don't know the extent of his health issues last season, but his performance level fell off a ton by mid-season. If we get the Coates from the first couple of weeks of the season, I will be happy.

I almost forgot; The Bears signed Markus "Pinky" Wheaton a week ago for whatever reason, so getting Hunter could also be for filling that roster spot.
Of course a traffic cone could've filled Pinky's spot.....

Coates is a bust. Period. The drop to start the AFCC was the end.
Jury is still out on Bryant.
No dominant TE (yet).
We absolutely need a catching threat besides AB and Bell out of the backfield.
I like the Hunter signing. Good TD to time-on-the-field ratio.

We will see. Honestly I believe Coates was injured. Next year will tell us who he is. I believe he is good. And that first five weeks tell us all we need to know.
