Re: Steelers 3rd round pick Kent State RB Dri Archer
looks like a kick returner.
To small to run the ball IMO, or pass block.
Can they convert him to a WR?
injury history .....and probably future at his size
Again steelers spend a higher pick on a role player.

These guys are drafting like they have the fucking all star team as a starting roster already and just don't give a shit. Maybe they haven't been paying fucking attention but we have been getting our asses kicked! Has anybody tested Colbert's urine? Maybe he's got a fucking meth problem or something...

Haven's draft board doeas have him as a 3rd round value.
my understanding is that he has lined up at WR, but mostly just gets screen passes thrown to him from that formation.

The theme of this draft has been speed.

Wasting a third round pick on a fucking kick off returner? Didn't they do that a few years ago with that punter--I can't even remember his name now... Spevada or something like that... how did he turn out?
This was a Tomlin pick as he said some bullshit about a kick off returner being an all star player.. oh bullshit... this draft will turn out to suck like the past five have...

Re: Steelers 3rd round pick Kent State RB Dri Archer
People this guys is ALSO a kickoff and punt Returner.
Let's keep in mind he is a RB / WR we a lot of speed. It is something we didn't have.
If he is able to stay healthy it will be a good pick. Maybe we should have taken him later on.
But he is a 4.2 speed. You do not find any players with this speed. If we can use him properly he gives defenses a big problem. If we put him on the filed together with another RB we will have plenty of options. How do you defend that ? If they use a nickel we have power RB. If they go to base defense any LB has .5 sec on the 40... It means... Put him in motion and he gets plenty of separation.
It is like a very cheap Mike Wallace. Faster and with better hands.

Agree. Percy Harvin type player, not really a receiver or a back. Knowing how many screens Haley loves to run, this guy fits the scheme. Does this close the door on a Felix Jones return?

They signed a very short, but very fast undrafted F.A. WR from Utah last year. You don't see him around here, or around any team on The NFL for that matter anymore, do you?
Speed isn't everything. As you said, they could've probably drafted him later on.

Re: Steelers 3rd round pick Kent State RB Dri Archer
This wins my most HATED pick award. Total useless waste of a pick. We need football players, not gimmicks. Sure, he might turn out to be a great kick returner, and field position is important (something we sucked at the last few years). However, there were so many areas of greater need at this spot! FFS, we've seen this before from Tomlin!!! He'll try to use him as a regular RB and he will get abused and fumble. Just NO! You do not waste a 3rd round pick on a kick return specialist. You find these guys as UFAs from Div II and Div III teams.
Re: Steelers 3rd round pick Kent State RB Dri Archer
And last time I checked, we have a legitimate running back for the first time since fast Willie and the Bus left town.

That guy,I do not remember his name, was just a kick returner. No punts, no WR, no RB.
This one is a RB / WR. Actually I can make a case that when he will be on the field we will have only one WR, probably Brown, and 2 TEs...
That is how our OC likes to play this type of fast small RB.
I am very confident that this guy will produce. Time will tell. I will see you in October
