Steelers Sign FS Mike Mitchell
The Steelers have apparently come to terms with former Carolina Free Safety Mike Mitchell. Mitchell, who'll be 27 once play begins this season, had a career year playing in Carolina's top tier defense. In 15 games he had 4 INTs for 63 yards and 50 tackles and 16 assists. Plus he also recorded 3.5 QB sacks.

I like this signing for two reasons. One, he's much faster, and has more range than Clark... Two, it allows Shemarko Thomas more time to develop, and learn the Defense.
Once Thomas knows how to recite the D in Chinese, Swahili, and Mongolian, then he'll be a starter.
Let's hope they sign a Linebacker, or Defensive Linemen or two before the Free Agency winds down.

The Steelers don't dip into free agency very often, but they got this one right. It's my understanding that he can play both safety positions as well. My only concern is that Carolina's defensive front made him look better than he really is.
