Post Season and Steelers

Postby Ohio » Mon Jan 13, 2014 9:42 am

Well the games have gone just like a predicted.

- Broncos and Patriots were the only decent teams in the AFC. And they are where they should be. Even if the Broncos did everything they could to lose the game in the 4th qrtr. The Patriots here are the clear cut favorites.

- Seattle ( who called Wilson a dwarf? ) and 49ers. Carolina is a better team and they were more physically prepared ( thanks to the bye week). But you still need good playcalling and a QB. Obviously they do not have those. They might have some good regular seasons but I do not see how they will have success in the post season with the people they have. Anyway... Seattle should easily win it.

What I wanted to say is this : If you give a look at the NFC they have NOW several good young teams that are there for the next 5 years. Seattle, San Francisco, Green Bay, New Orleans, Philly, etc.
If you give a look at the AFC : Denver - Manning is 38, Patriots - Brady is not much younger... and Then ? Who ? San Diego ? San Diego looks to be closer since Rivers came onboard. Now in 2014 ten years have passed and they are still not there. Cincy ? With int-machine Dalton ? The Colts ? Well... The Colts have a very good Luck. But I personally do not like Chuck Pagano. I mean, the guy was a defensive coordinator. Right? Well two postseason games with him... Chiefs Scored 44 and Patriots scored 43... Good Luck with that.

AFC will be there next year and in the years coming for whoever will be able to step up. Then In one game against the NFC anything can happen. I only hope that we fix our defensive problems and we start getting people that make us score TDs in the Redzone. The Panthers, thanks to Newton, settling for FGs should be a good lesson. We need tall TE and WR. That is a primary need for our offense now

I agree with everything you said except for the Cheats being the favorite in Denver. Manning has a score to settle and an axe to grind and Coach Smell-a-dick can't read lips anymore.

As long as the Patriots get eliminated, that's all I hope for.......

I was hoping the Chargers would be the Cinderella, but not to be.

I have not watched one minute of live football since the Steelers got eliminated.......

Let me tell you why. Manning and Fox are not playoffs caliber. As it was shown last year, losing to a vastly inferior Ratbirds team, they start to "play it safe". Just like Cowher, Shottenhaimer, Jim Mora, Andy Reid ( who was able to blow a 28 point lead against Indianapolis). Well you got the point...

Those guys simple do not have it. If they are trailing, they panic. If they are winning, they "play it safe". Honestly... I do not see them winning. They need the Patriots to beat themselves. But this would be very strange. Brady is the QB with the most Wins in post season. They can run, they can throw, they are not scared.
Remember Cowher won his only Superbowl when, as a sixth seed after 10 plus YEARS, he went on the road and did everything the exact contrary of his style. Throw first. Strong start, etc. I do not think Cowher would have even got close to winning that title if he was a 3rd seed or he had a game home. Same thing for Fox. I expect the same result as last year against Bal. And I will always expect that result from him until he proves me wrong.

Patriots are way favorite for me.We will talk after the game.

Have to agree Ohio--can't see the Patriots losing to Denver. As much as I hate the bastards, in relative terms in last week's contests, Indy is a much better team than San Diego judging by the strength of their wins. The Patriots handled them easily while Denver struggled. I am not overwhelmed by either defense so it will come down to scoring points and Manning has choked and Brady does not. After that I will root for the NFC in the Super Bowl.

This is more personal for me since I live in Patriot land. I actually used to root for them once the Stillers were out, until 2007, when we found out they cheated, and when every Pats fan called the "The Best Team Ever" before they had even won the championship, despite my warning them not to do so, as it would bring down the wrath of the Gods of Football.

Normally, I would prefer them to go to the Super Bowl and get beat. But this year I want them to lose to the Donco's, because I have heard so many frickin' times this week, "Bellichick's got Peyton's numbah" that I want to vomit.

I wish they could both lose! However, I would settle for the 2 golden boys to both have the worst games of their career with the Doncos winning on a safety by sacking Brady in the end zone. I can't help but place a great deal of blame on both of these QB's for Goodell's pussification of the NFL.

Den 2
NE 0

As far as the NFC goes, I'm rooting for Seattle all the way since I can't stand either Harbaugh.

Sea 17
SF 13

Can't wait until next year already. I just ordered NHL Center Ice for about half price so I'm set until late spring.

Peyton Manning is the classiest star in the NFL. This man is exemplary in every facet of life. He shows what you can do by working hard and living by the golden rule. He has not once misbehaved in his entire career. He has always played it straight. This is the type of example we want to hold up to our children. I also like Robert Kraft. I like Russel Wilson. He is a soft spoken decent young man. I am tiring of Copernicus but still like him. All told - these are wonderful exciting championship games coming this Sunday. Truly the best teams in the NFL.

I will enjoy every minute of each game as I have enjoyed all the playoff action thus far.

Where is PG and what have you done with him? This does not sound like the PG I know. Imposter!

I disagree. San Diego was playing as good football as anybody down the stretch. Plus, Rivers may be a punk but he is a veteran punk with playoff experience and he doesn't get intimidated. Luck is untested and the stage was too big for him. He is talented and will win but it was like Canelo vs Mayweather: just caught him early enough in his career that he wasn't ready yet. Plus, San Diego - Denver is a divisional matchup where the team's know each other much better. Plus, as I said above, I think Manning has a chip on his shoulder for the first time in his career. He's got something to prove and no better way to do it than beat up the bully on the block. I think Denver wins in a rout.

Isfry I disagree. Indy had quality wins. San Diego did not. Actually San Diego went in the postseason only thanks to a missed field goal against a second string team. I wouldn't call that good down the stretch football.

Rivers in ten years has been to ONE AFC Championship Game. Luck carried his team. No Doubts that he will be in the AFC Championship game in maximum three years. And not because of Pagano, as I said he sucks.

I agree that divisional matchup are normally tougher. But there is a huge difference between Belichick and McCoy, Fox and Pagano. He plays to win. Those guys play not to lose. The Patriots have 5 starting rookies. Bolts, Broncos and Colts combined have 3. Belichick has been to 5 SB in the last 13 years. Manning can have a chip on his shoulder but unfortunately for him he doesn't have the arm or the playcalling required in the postseason. Honestly I expect an easy win for the Patriots. The Broncos need a perferct game and everything in their favor. I don't see it happening.

On a side note : Have you noted that AFC North assistants are being promoted to Head Coach ? I don't think that a Superbowl winning team had three head coaches the next season. It will happen with the Bengals. The Ravens offense sucked ? Their coach just got promoted... I don't know how owners hire people... But they are setting pretty low standards...

SoCal, I was wondering the same thing about PGH! Not a cuss word in that post. I agree with him and would add Brady has been upstanding except for his out of wedlock kid, and I think the starlet probably did that on purpose.

I watch Belichick's coach's show sometimes. He's way more personable with the local guy on the show than what you see in press conferences. His philosophy is big games are won on big plays. Thats why he doesn't go into "play not to lose" mode.

This one is on the Donc's D. Brady can be beat with tight coverage off the line and relentless rushing pressure. If one of his first 3 reads gets a step on his coverage he will get the ball out, most likely. If he doesn't start his throwing motion right away after his last foot plant, he can be had. Also, watch for him to run out of the pocket; during the regular season, he will throw it away, but in the playoffs he will run for a first down if he can. That crushes defensive morale 'cuz it looks like he's in slo-mo when he runs. Note that Denver also has to stop NE's newfound running prowess.

It will help if the Broncos can continually move the ball (and hopefully score) throughout the game and keep their D rested; offense is defense in this one. I have seen so many flippin' Pats games where the opponents think they have it won and the Pats come back, but I have also seen the reverse. In fact, nobody has suffered more 4Q collapses than the Pats, even more than Dick's Stillers, and that's saying something.

It's too close for me to call but I am anticipating a great ball game. The other one should be good too.

:D You guys are a good bunch. Well - just to keep it real - the reason why I wax superlatively about the playofs is mainly to show that the Steelers are in NO FUCKING WAY even close to the caliber of these teams - in ANY MFing capacity!

Owners!

Coaches!

Players!

now the fans? Historically the best people in the USA.

I believe we are not far from being a playoff contender. At least we most likely still have the most important piece of the puzzle in Ben for a few more years. There are many teams that have way worse problems than us, especially at QB. Also, I believe we have the best young RB and the hardest working WR in the league. One good off-season and we are back in the mix. My main concern is the personnel decision making with regard to the opening day roster and the under-utilization of rookies. I also fear that we will retain Clark and Woodley despite the fact that they are the two weakest links on the D.

Peyton goes 32/43 for 400 yds and two TDs, no sacks. Denver scored on six consecutive drives and it would have been seven if they didn't kneel down to end the last one. The Broncos put up more yards on the Cheats' defense in a playoff game than any other team in the smell-a-dick era. Putting the stamp on the reality that the Cheatriots can't win if they can't cheat. Justice is sweet.

They clearly dominated. Your doubt will forever stick with the Cheatriots SuperBowl wins.

The only doubt I have is... Steroids... Who is using it ? We know that the entire Seattle secondary used it... But is sure looks like a lot of players have "improved" their physical performance this week.

Just like Big Lamarr... My son always taught that his injuries are PED related... I am no specialist and I do not know what to think anymore

Manning the classiest? I remember when he got beat by a 2nd year quarterback and instead of blaming his uncanny ability of having something lodge down his throat he did this
