12-4?
All this talk about draft picks and free agents aside, I was looking at the upcoming schedule and it occurs to me that there are four trouble games.
AT New England
AT Baltimore
AT Green Bay
AT Raiders (I include this one because the Steelers have a knack for dumping West Coast road games these days (see last year's fumble-rama @ Raiders and two years ago's Monday Night debacle at SF.)
All that said, even if we lose ALL FOUR of those games, as long as we beat the Ravens at Heinz first, the other eleven games are really winnable.
12-4.
Anyone disagree?

12-4 IS WISHFUL THINKING. THE STEELERS NEVER SCORE ENOUGH, FOR ME ANYWAY. SO WINNING 12 GAMES AFTER LOSING WALLACE, MILLER RECOVERING FROM A KNEE INJURY, AND A SORRY RUNNING GAME IS WISHFUL THINKING. THEIR DEFENCE IS NOT WHAT IT WAS. IWANT THE STEELERS TO WIN EVERY GAME BUT THEY'LL NEED EVERYTHING TO GO RIGHT FOR THEM TO DO THAT. ALSO I DONT THINK NEW ENGLAND WILL BE THAT TOUGH THIS YEAR. CLYDE

While the Miller surgery recovery may be an issue, we will have to wait and see. Our running game has only improved as the O-line has continued to gel, and I expect that to continue with Decastro being back and the whole unit having had a chance to work together during a full camp. As for the loss of Wallace, I have to laugh. Yes, a prima donna, hold-out, locker-room-cancer, with meat hammers for hands didn't get a ridiculous contract he didn't deserve. How that translates into a bad thing for the Stillers is beyond me.

If the first pre-season game is any indication, I'd say 10-6..... The offense shows promise, but I don't like what I'm seeing on defense and special teams.

8-8
THE DEFENSE OUTSCORED THE OFFENSE in the first preseason game.

So how does 2 segments bad and one good add up to 10-6?

Long time viewer of this site, first time post.
In the NFL of today, the team with the least injuries has a shot.
That being said, if the Steelers aren't cursed with injuries like they were the last two years, and 2012 in particular, they can easily win 10 games or more.

I'm going to go with 11-5. Preseason is preseason, Steelers will be ready to rock in week one ! Defense will be fine, as long as they can stay healthy. Troy is in much better shape then he was last year. Look for him to shine early !!
Go Pittsburgh !!!
Go Pittsburgh !!!

Touche, my friend. I will be over here drinking my Kool-Aid. Troy does look fast, lean, and healthy, High 5, and Cortez Allen is a shot in the arm to the secondary if ever there was one. I expect (if everyone can please remain healthy) the db's and safeties to hawk a lot of balls this year. That should take a little pressure off the new lb's and (hopefully) not leave the entire middle of the field open for Larry not-so-fleet-of-Foote...

12 being the number of points we might score all year and 4 being the number of starters we lost in week one. ugh...
ahahahahahahahah
Looking on the bright side :
Foote is out for the SEASON ( bicep)
However Pouncey is also out for the season (ACL)
Time to panic. Do we shop for a Center now ?
