Love this draft.
Do we have 4 starters from it NEXT year?
DD, Adams, and Ta'amu surely and maybe Spence in for Clark at SS?

What do ya think? Not sure he's got size for any of the LB positions but if he is as intelligent and has the instincts they rave about, why not?

It did fall our way though.

You make a good point CC, I seem to remember the Stillers drafting another fast LB and converting him into a safety.... what was his name.... Carnell Lake, I think!

I thought the same thing about the Spencer pick. Undersized for an ILB but good enough size and playmaking ability to play safety. Can he spell Troy in case of a likely injury? The vet backups are nothing special. We will probably get a chance to see if he makes the squad.

I wouldn't doubt if P Drew Butler makes the team this season.

Carnell was who I had in mind but I think Spence is shorter and wider BUT a ball hunter.
No doubt, Lake one of my all-time favs, and I hope this guy becomes a special project by Lake to become like him.
Carmell was able to also move to corner as well. No way for Spence to move that far BUT as a run support safety to keep Troy OUT OF THE BOX FOR HEALTH REASONS, I love this pick. Put TROY in coverage and protect him. Gets Troy 3 more yrs.

See any of Spence's "U" videos? Ball-hunter extraordinaire!
Will he rot on the bench in yr 1? Of course.
Will Troy get hurt this yr? Of course.
Would it have been able to avoid? Of course.

Excellent summary, I couldn't agree more. This has been a very exciting off season. I'm ready for the season to start now!

As to Spence, from the reports of him being undersized with great instincts, he sounds a lot like Zach Thomas from the old Dolphins. Has anyone else had this view?

As to Adams, shouldn't Heyward be able to know if he can play some? Both played opposite sides of line in Buckeye land.

I have no idea where people are getting their opinions on Ta'amu. He went in the fourth round. Hampton went in round one. If Ta'amu was good enough to just roll in and start, he would have gone in round one or at worst the high second round. The other teams did not miss a 350 NT on their board. They obviously did not rate him all that highly. Hopefully, our system and coaching will be perfect for him and he will flourish but let's keep the early opinions normal. McClendon is going to likely be the guy if Hampton is not ready and may push Hampton even if Casey is healthy as Hampton will have no significant offseason and need to get in shape, etc.

I'm just fucking ecstatic that they addressed the OL. Finally. Can we try and run the ball a bit now? I'm not looking for a return to the "3 yards and a cloud of dust" from the Bettis/Cowher days. I would just like to see Ben remain upright for a play or two. Play action only works when there's some actual threat of a run. Is it August yet?
