Possible O-Line Combo

Postby Pump-N-Iron » Thu May 03, 2012 10:23 am

I know that we are still months away from any meaningful practice with pads, but I couldn't help thinking about where all these new pieces fit. The FO and Kugler have publicly stated that they don't want any 'moving pieces' with the O-Line like we had last year. Prior to the draft, they were strongly leaning toward plugging Gilbert in at LT to make room for Colon to return to his RT position. However, that may not be in their best interest any more. Adams, if he proves himself, is a natural LT, and Gilbert seems to be fairly well suited to play RT. With Pouncey at C and DeCastro at RG, that leaves only one open spot left. When Colon first arrived with the Stillers, he played mostly at RG. He was moved to RT more out of necessity than anything else. We all know that he was adequate, at best, as a RT, so, my thought was to give him a shot at LG.

This would mean that only 1 player needs to learn a new position, with Legu & Foster as backups. It could wind up being one of the best OL's we've had since the early days of The Chin.

Don't know about that one. Colon does not move like he used to. I like most of the potential combinations though.

Do you think Kugler read my post here? Probably not, it was kind of an obvious move... but it's nice to see signs of intelligence from the coaching staff (good riddance to Mr. Arians).
