Much discussion has been devoted to the Steeler's defense, laughable game plan, shitty corners in the Denver game, but does anyone here think the offense shined this year? Palmer Sucks said that after the opening season disasters, the Steelers could go as far as Big Ben and the talented receivers can take them. Did anyone mistake this Steeler offense for New Orleans or Green Bay? It mostly struggled too against a lot of shit opponents. Was there a game when the offense took over the game and gave the defense breathing room? I guess Tennessee but that was it. Last night you saw what a good offense can do to the Bronco defense. Shred it. Was the Denver defense in danger of getting shredded by Big Ben?

Big Ben has not grown on me for the past couple of seasons. Do you hear about him working as hard as Brady or Brees? Contrast his physical conditioning with Tebow. He looks fucking fat. He is a more talented Mark Sanchez in his approach to the game.

The defense is aging and will be in transition next year. LeBeau's schemes are not a mystery to other teams now. They are not going to get shut down corners any time soon. Big Ben will have to outscore the other team regularly. Is he up to it?

The O-line is the problem with the offense.

Bruce Arians is the whole problem here....... He has a box of five pet plays....... A straight tackle run (which suits Redman better than Mendenhall), a bubble screen (a pick six waiting to happen), a drop straight back pass (will ultimately get Ben killed), an empty backfield shotgun pass (suicide with a decimated OL), and a deep drop back pass. No rollouts, no misdirection (something Menhenhall would have really excelled at), no traps, rarely running out of the shotgun, no design screens countering the blitz, etc. ..... (The predicable run play calling makes play action useless, it doesn't fool the defense.) The fact Ben is most-effective in no huddle, calling his own plays, should tell you something how awful the OC really is. (What really saved Arians was Ben's ability to escape pressure.)

The lack of variety in play calling, and the lack of proper play calling for the defense given, have caused our offense to stall, especially late in games. Ben and Antonio Brown can often play through this, but Rashard Mendenhall, Mike Wallace, and Heath Miller cannot.

For how awful the offensive line may have been, the play calling could have mitigated the problem to a degree. In fact, I think the play calling has been the root cause of all the OL injuries. Almost like clockwork. You look at the teams with great OCs like the Packers and Saints, they don't seem to have the injury problems at OL like we do, because the players' workload isn't so daunting. Good play calling gives the linemen a break on occasion.

Since the rest of the defense won't be as good as it has been the past few years, our "lack of shutdown corners" will become a huge liability......... (As if it wasn't already.) Like the offensive line, a major hole that was never addressed.

Due to age on defense, I think our window of opportunity to win it all may have closed in the Ben era. I think our player acquisitions have in most part been on par as it has been, but our game coaching has not, in my humble opinion. Especially on offense. (Our special teams have improved since Cowher. A little known fact that is underappreciated.) We need an upgrade at offensive coordinator, or I can almost guarantee a losing season next year. Our "D" will have too many holes, our talent will be mostly on the offensive side of the ball, but with Bruce Arians, that talent will in most part go to waste.

Just watched the Ravens/Texans game...... The DB play on both defenses was so much better than the Stillers', it isn't even funny. This is a big reason why these two teams were still playing and we're not.

This may even be an issue why Ben has thrown more picks........ In practice against our own DBs, the play for the long pass is there, but against other teams' DBs, these same plays get snuffed out, and often picked.

Reports now say Reed can and will play in AFCCG......... He must have been acting as if the injuy was worse than it was........ I really thought he was done for the season. He looked a lot worse than Mendenhall when he got hurt........
