Re: New Article: Stillers-Doncos Postgame Analysis and Grades
I said this in an argument yesterday but the worst part of LeBeau's coaching yesterday was that he fuking kept doing the same thing that obviously wasn't working which was leaving Taylor in one on one coverage. The last shitbag play--he is worrying about the fucking run so he brings the safety up to the LOS and Tebow must have gotten wood when he saw that cause he knew damn well that Taylor was going to get beat. A simple fucking post route!! It wasn't even a double move! All he needed to do was leave Taylor clutching his dick within five yards and then it was just pitch and catch.
I don't give the offense credit for shit either this season. Palmer Sucks pointed out that the team could go as far as the offense could take them. Well it was never consistent nor particularly potent. They need to get an OC who isn't playing school yard ball. Yes that is what Ben prefers but this style breaks down consistently. You don't get the feeling that it is going to reliably put three touchdowns on the board and this was even against subpar competition this season.
Actually we should thank Tebow for this because it saves the horrorshow of what Brady could do to this number 1 defense next week. What is the highest rating possible? If Tebow could get a 125 on this defense, Brady might have a perfect game. 31 of 31, seven touchdowns, 600 total yards...

can't argue with any of that . . . .
do not underestimate Arians's part in this debacle, more empty backfields and complete lack of a proper gameplan!
plus Ben was horrible, really out of sorts, . . .
what a double team they make i'd swear I'm watching Laurel and Hardy re-incarnated at times!!
If Ben once again want's Arians back and it happens I will totally go off the chart - WE WILL NOT WIN ANOTHER SB with this incompetant fool in charge of our offense, . . I guarantee it.
On a side note, why wasn't the helmet to helmet hit on Wally called, . . if that had have been, Harrison laying the hit, i'm sure the flag would have been out and Roger would have his calculator out again!!
Officiating was very poor, but so were we.

Dead on again Mill
There is plenty of blame to go around. Tomlin standing on the sideline trying to look cool but totally lost and out coached again. 90 year old Prick lebeau, senile as ever getting burned on the same plays over and over. For some reason however, I lay most of the blame on the 100 million dollar man, Benny. If Ben wasn't supposedly hurt I have no doubt in my mind that he would of played the same and the outcome of the game would of been the same. Look at Ben this year and realize something; He is as good as he's going to get. Next year will be his ninth in the league. I keep waiting for him to take his game to the next level but that never comes. He is what he is, above average, nothing more. The word elite and big ben should not be used in the same sentence. An "elite" qb in that game yesterday would of put up 21 right away and put away that team and crowd. Tomlin, Lebeau, Ben = over rated. Nobody is hungry on that team any more, except for antonio brown. Wallace is over rated. Millionaires with super bowl rings. Maybe no incentive any more. It is painful to watch. Just my 02 cents

The Steelers will only be as successful as Big Ben is!

Re: New Article: Stillers-Doncos Postgame Analysis and Grades
All of the chickens came home to roost yesterday. The weak pass rush, the disappointing linebackers play, the overrated secondary, the recent troubles in the red zone. Injuries played a substantial part in nearly all of these flaws, fair enough. But this was the 8-8 Broncos who staggered into the playoffs, playing with a rookie quarterback whose least-developed skill is throwing the ball. TT looked like Vince Young against USC in the Rose Bowl for much of the game. Tomlin can't keep relying on Ben R as his catch-all security blanket to overcome mistakes in strategy and execution; and yes, the biggest concerns are on defense. Something akin to an overhaul is necessary. LeBeau will be given the opportunity to do it but he - and Tomlin - must be held accountable. The wizards at the Post-Gazette will note that Tomlin has been to two Super Bowls and made the playoffs every year but one. But only the team that defeated Arizona at the Super Bowl - a game that went down to the wire - played above itself. Last year's team waltzed into the SB with an easy post-season schedule (against two teams that self-destructed playing at Heinz Field) and the other two playoff teams lost their only playoff games. Baltimore improved this year and Cinci is growing up fast. Next year will be a critical year in defining the Tomlin era.

Re: New Article: Stillers-Doncos Postgame Analysis and Grades
Good riddance to this 2011 season. Sub-mediocre performance by a mediocre team. Not much to look forward to in 2012 if the same "brain trust" is still in charge. Injuries are of course one aspect but when fuggin coaches don't prepare the team adequately, "we acknowledge the standard is the standard " which means continual sucking
And what is it about Pittsburgh athletes that can't keep any of them on the field/ice? The only really consistent lineups this year are in the emergency ward at UPMC
bye bye 2011 and hopefully 2012 will bring a fresh outlook and some healthy players

Plenty of blame to go around but the front office should be suspect #1.
The patchwork offensive line has been a joke for several years. The dumping of Max Starks' contract was cynical in the extreme considering his ability (especially when contrasted with his linemates) and value as a teammate.
The front office continues to devalue its most valuable asset in BR7 by ignoring or even exacerbating the OL problem. Ben's career will be cut short by chronic or sudden injury. In 2017, for example, when he is forced from the game by physical breakdown will the sainted Rooneys and the front office be held to account?

The run is over. They need to clean out the greybeards on D and get some speed. O line needs some new pieces. Tomlin needs to quit being a blow hard and get his coaches to do their job and have a sense of urgency.
Starting to think that the cumulative effect of all these hits that BR7 is a "shot fighter" looks good but if ya get some hits on him and pressure him he starts to fall apart.

Re: New Article: Stillers-Doncos Postgame Analysis and Grades
OUCH, UGH, One ugly performance. T-BONED by Tebow, yikes. In OT both safeties are up defending the run when the guy CAN throw deep passes pretty good. Taylor was T-Boned the whole game. Farrior said they didnt see that on tape, well ok, u should see it during the game, u were their! Weres the adjustment to keep a least one safety back. U dont need 10 guys to defend the fukin run? Mill keeps bangin the point on the DC, Im hearin the knock, shit.
I think the QB went above & beyond the call in the 4Q, started moving a lot better, brought us back. I bet he cant even walk or stand on it today? Probably would be a statue in NE? Man, we had a lot of injuries, be tough beating NE then Balt then GB/NO?

BTW funny how all the Still Mill bashers are no shows when the chickens come home to roost and all the stuff Mill has been stating comes home to be true. Just sayin....
Re: New Article: Stillers-Doncos Postgame Analysis and Grades
In the NFL, there are 10-12 great players that will make plays no matter what coaches do to stop them.
The Steelers don't have any of those players right now.
The rest of the players in the NFL rely on astute coaching and preparation to put them in a position to succeed.
The Steelers simply do NOT have the astute coaching needed to do their players in a position to succeed.
That is not to say the Steelers do not have good players. They have a lot of them.
The coaching staff -- and injuries -- fucked the pooch on this one.
In the first play of OT -- indicative of how the Steelers played Tebow on first down -- people are quick to point out that the Steelers dropped 10 men into the box in an effort to stop the run. That wasn't the problem.
The fact that Ike Taylor continued to play outside technique on Demaryius Thomas once the safeties walk down into the box strikes me as assinine. The moment the safeties vacate the deep middle, Taylor had to protect it. Plain and simple. And use the sideline as a defender. This is defensive coordinator 101 stuff. In all the years I've been a football coach I've been instructed to do this.
I guess I could sit here and point out the obvious that Ike Taylor had a brutal game. No doubt that LeBeau overrated his talents in my mind.
But LeBeau is the idiot that basically called this formation -- or did not coach Ike to do his job correctly.
Tebow made the play he was given. A 12-year slant. The fact that the play went 80-yards -- and effectively ended the game -- is squarely on LeBeau. I can't defend this man at his job anymore.

Re: New Article: Stillers-Doncos Postgame Analysis and Grades
A joke of a game to cap a parody of a season, and it's really sad to see so much talent go to complete waste. The Stillers looked about as unprepared as you can possibly look on offense, and the D not much better. Losing Keisel, Hampton, and Woodley early didn't help, and a couple of those Tebow passes were quite miraculous, so I can't completely throw the D under the bus. However, the offense looked as bad as it ever has, and it looked like most of them didn't even want to be out there. Horrid play selection coupled with recievers who can't catch spells defeat before the other team even tries to score. Mill said it right that Tomlin has truly turned into a monument unto himself, and now (maybe even before) does as much as a statue.
I'm actually really sad to say it, and I gain no pleasure in it, but this team is off the rails and probably won't be back on them for quite some time. No drive, no brains, no hope........what a waste.

I don't know if I have ever seen a Stiller playoff gm, outside of the Chargers debacle of 1995 (AFCC), that was so thoroughly disappointing. Dropped balls, 12 men in huddle, multiple delay of gm penalties on Ben. Plus, throwing away 3 pts right before halftime, not managing the clock at gms end, taking sacks. I just don't get how this happened. Did Ike have the sickle cell trait??? 4 catches for 204 yds & TD. Jerry Rice? No, Demaryius Thomas!! The ironic thing is that I bet Ike gets named as an alternate for the Pro Bowl!!

Re: New Article: Stillers-Doncos Postgame Analysis and Grades
I just hope the Stillers learned one thing yesterday...... Just because a player has decent stats because the rest of the team covers up for him does not mean that he's good. When was the last time Ike Taylor made a game-saving play, let alone a game-changing one? If it weren't for Troy P. and a good pass rush, this clown would have been cut a long time ago.
I've always thought Ike was overrated, but now I think he is one of the most-overrated players in history.
William Gay might be horrible too, but at least he makes a play on rare occasion. But he should be moved to safety next season.

Whenever Tom Brady loses, it's always someone else's fault.
Re: New Article: Stillers-Doncos Postgame Analysis and Grades
Good overall on-point review.
The only problem I see is that the Steelers don't see the issues pointed out. Tomlin is still in the mode of "...not wanting to rock the boat..." and therefore is impudent when it comes to taking charge.
It’s as if the Steelers wanted to make sure Tomlin was successful and took control away from him in regards to coaching personnel and advised him to not muddle in the game plan so much. Well, let’s see if Tomlin has the courage to do what needs to be done. Otherwise, he is just a figure head with no real authority which isn’t fair to him, the players and certainly to Steeler Nation.

Re: New Article: Stillers-Doncos Postgame Analysis and Grades
I posted last week that this game would go down to wire in the exact same fashion that the Cleveland games unfolded. The point being that we barely eek out victories against poor teams and lose to good teams. That there is no sense of urgency. That there is abject failures to fix glaring problems and to make "in game" adjustments. That our OL stinks. The 3 things that enraged me were
1) Defensive secondary SUCKED. And that includes Troy, who would flash up as is his wont, but who also bit up on ALL of the long gainers. ALL OF THEM! But Ike Taylor had a meltdown of epic proportions, not just a bad game, it was the worst game of his career, and he is healthy. I attribute this to overconfidence and lack of preparation. And Gay sucked
2) NO pressure on Tebow due to the weak assed lack of effort by mcClendon, Hood and Heyward and NO LBs to turn him in on the option. Harrison and Woodley should be quite ashamed. Farrior is finally exposed and Foote, well, Lets just say that a NEW DC would waste NO TIME, letting larry seek a job elsewhere. I think we should be worried that heyward is a BUST
3) Quite surprised That Mill gave Ben a C-. His effort was a D. The 2 INTs were KILLERS. The unneccasry sacks and strips were KILLERS. the final sack took us out of FG range and that KILLED US. Ben is a true gamer, do not get me wrong. But I insist that Ben gets with a QB coach who will not be intimidated and who will discipline Ben and sernd him back to QB school. Bens decision making is KILLING US
Who played well? Suisham and Redman. THATS IT
We are done and we will pick low again. We were no where near as good as our record indicated. Next year our schedule will be more difficult and it is going to take some mAJOR SOUL SEARCHING, or we will descend further
Time for LeBeau to go. He can NOT make in game adjustments. I am sick of getting outsmarted damnit!
I will now vote my ass off for Tim Tebow and the Broncos to go all the fucking way and win the Super Bowl. He played a fantastic game. he was the KEY to the Denver victory. HE KILLED US!
TEBOW!

I am in full agreement with Tank and have been saying it for three years on this site. Tomlin is nothing more than figurehead and a lousy coach. He has made zero staff adjustments and does not ever seem to get any of his coaches in check. You wonder if he was handcuffed by the owners when hired and he still has no say
Re: New Article: Stillers-Doncos Postgame Analysis and Grades
Hello all, Still sick and pissed off at that pathetic performance against Denver. No.1 defense my ass. It will be interesting to see what adjustments a real coach makes (Belecheat) with the #30 defense.
Denver will probably be lucky to score 3 points.
PS: Someone tell big ben to take off that stupid looking hat that is too small for him. He looks like a dick

Re: New Article: Stillers-Doncos Postgame Analysis and Grades
No pressure, no coverage, no red zone conversions. Couldn't pick up 10 yards with a minute left to attempt a FG.
If there's one thing Tebow cannot do, its throw under pressure. Apparently Dick got Tebow confused with Brady... we came out in our usual playoff defense of "try not to lose". I understand going man against the Pats, but that played right into Tebow's hands... especially when there's no pressure. He's a greenhorn QB... throw a few different looks and zone blitz schemes in there to mess with his head. Don't give him 10 seconds to throw against single coverage.
I could go on, but it's not really worth my time. This team is gutless. I know we say this at the end of each year, but hopefully this will serve as a wake up call to finally make some changes - mainly both coordinators need to go.
