NFL Owners are Dumfuks

Postby SoCal Stiller » Mon Jan 02, 2012 9:04 pm

Here we are on "black monday" again yet it still amazes me how these douchebag owners continue to make poor decisions. When are they going to learn that you have to have continuity in a salary cap driven league in order to have success? The Rams firing made sense after 3 years because, let's face it, that thing was a fiery train wreck. However, Miami, T.B.? Miami was one of the better 2nd half teams & they were really starting to build something. It's even more of a head-scratcher how Tampa owner just dumped their entire coaching staff. These guys have less patience than a dog in a pork factory - wtf? I guess it's good for us that so many other teams are so fricken dysfunctional. We are all guilty of bitching and complaining every season, myself included, but I for one am pretty fucking thankful that I grew up with a good, solid organization. 3 coaches in 42 years? That's why we're in it nearly every year.

Agree.

I'm always amazed at a number of factors:

1) An owner who fires a coach believes he is fixing things when in reality all he is doing - at best - is turning the clock back 3-4 years in terms of success or even a .500 team. For every Mike Tomlin there are 20 Steve Spagnuolos but the owners - who study revenue sharing and hot dog sales figures religiously - refuse to see the percentages involved in a coaching change. Many of these owners are elderly or at least not very young. Do they think they will live forever while spinning the coaching turnstile?

2) Every player will tell you they interact with their coordinators (who don't double as head coaches), position coaches, even the trainers, more frequently than the head coach. Yes many teams clean house when they fire a head coach but many do not and therefore the roots of the problem are never exposed.

3) Jerry Jones is beloved by the media and fans and frequently credited as 'knowing football' but has made numerous bad coaching hires which resulted in bad coaching firings. Daniel Snyder is hated by the media and everyone else for doing the exact same thing.

Which leads us to the Indianapolis Colts, who fired Bill Polian & son because....Peyton Manning hurt his neck? Because Jim Caldwell is less animated than a cigar store Indian? Jim Irsay can bluster about the upcoming draft and the bad record this year but in my view it's all a poorly-acted pantomime to disguise the fact that Irsay is being courted to move the Colts (again) to LA. Robert Irsay was a complete bastard but somehow his son has manufactured a positive PR image. That doesn't mean he won't ring up Mayflower again and take his team to SoCal.
