When Was the Last Time a 12-4 Team Got Just a Wild Card?
I'm sure it has happened before, but I don't recall.
The Stillers' biggest problem right now is it plays in the toughest division in the NFL. In fact, I'd say even the Clowns would have a winning record if they played in a different division.

Whenever Tom Brady loses, it's always someone else's fault.

2010, Baltimore Ravens, 12-4, 2nd place AFC North, 5th seed
2008, Indy Colts, 12-4, 2nd place ACF South, 5th seed
2005, Jax Jaguars, 12-4, 2nd place AFC South, 5th seed
There are literrally a butt-load of 11-5 cases.

AFC North is a tough division, but Stillers are doing just fine.
I think the Stiller's biggest problem is injuries.
Stillers could win the AFC, even on the road, except that half of the starting roster is injuried in some shape or form.
Look at the possible games ahead:
Wild card: at Denver,
Div: at Balt or at NE,
AFC: at Balt or at NE.
On a good day, these are all very beatable teams, at least this year.

IIRC, Denver was a No. 4 Wild Card Team,(Before they realigned The Conferences), in 1997 at 12-4, then went on to win The Superbowl.
Also, I believe Tennessee was a Wild Card Team at 13-3 and went to The SB in 1999, only because Jacksonville won their Div. with a 14-2 record that year.
On the flip side, a Matt Cassel lead Pats team missed the playoffs despite going 11-5 in 2008, while at the same time, an 8-8 Chargers Team not only made the playoffs, but was the winner of a very shitty West Division, and thus got to host a post-season game. De ja Vu, anyone?

What about the 2010 7-9 Seahawks, who got in as 4th, while Gints and Bucs both were eliminated at 10-6.
Who thinks that the NFC playoff teams are better than AFC, maybe even far better?

Unless a team is peaking towards the end of the seasonPlayoff ball is usually nothing like the regular season.
