Well the Ravens somehow just got beat by the Seattle Slewhawks and the mighty Tarvaris Jackson. Then again, we saw Carson Palmer beat the pundits' favorite no-championship high-stat QB Phil Rivers. And William Gay managed to play a serviceable game against Cincy.

So the goat one week can be fine the next in this any-given-Sunday league.

But someone is gnawing at me. A figure from our past. Hank Poteat.

Poteat was a 3rd rounder for us in 2000. He stayed on the team for a long 3 years despite being horrible. He always looked confused and was burned so frequently coming off the bench he should have been in a Shriners unit. Actually he wasn't half bad as a kick returner. We finally waived the dude and nobody picked him up. For over a year.

Then suddenly Poteat returns to our lives, in no less than the '04 championship game. Now a Patriot, somehow Hank is transformed to a winged god of the secondary, batting down passes that would have been caught by Hines and sticking tackles. Is this another Vrabel, a guy who couldn't get playing time in the black and gold, yets puts on a Patriot jersey and all of a sudden turns all-pro?

Well not quite. But a guy who was an unmitigated disaster for us turned into a serviceable backup on the Patriots, and earned a superbowl ring.

Now I know this was before the current regime, but my point is , sometimes its not the guy, its the organization, the management, the scheme. We are 7-3, we can't complain too much. But I just have this gnawing feeling that we're going to blow our chances this year with more 2-minute scoring drives by the opponents. I look at our personnel and William Gay and Ryan Clark included, they just don't seem that awful in a league where parity is the norm and anybody who's got top talent throughout the secondary has had to give it up somewhere else to get it. It almost happened again this week to a rookie QB who should have been chewed up and spit out in 20 pieces.

Great dissection of what the fuk are they thinking with press and 16 secs left and up by 4. Add in the fiasco for delay of game on should we kick a FG and the coaching gave this game away. Gee, it was only for all the marbles! If the ravens would have lost this game like they should have they most likely sink into the abyss and lose most of their remaining games.
They lose to Seattle anyway, hahahaha, but there sweep over us should be enough to keep em around.
