Another angina fest. Steelers are barely 4-0 against the junior varsity, perhaps 4-1 as the Texans slide due to injuries to key players, and a resounding 0-1 against teams certain to make the playoffs. Just two questions: Any chance that Ben R checked out in the second half because of the injury to his foot? And when do the linebackers start earning their hefty pay? Even if you think Mill is too hard on Woodley - and I do, at least for the last two games - this unit should be dominating teams like the Jags.
Still, a win is a win, and the Steelers are now 4-2 along with a bunch of other teams. The offense has tremendous potential - usually realized for about half of each game - and the defense has played capably since the disaster of the Ravens game. This team has experience and Tomlin generally has done a much better job than Cowher of rounding the Steelers into form at the end of the season when the playoffs start. To be able to do that this year, there has to be more urgency about playing a complete game.

To me, the blame for the putter is almost entirely on Ben and I think he earned that D. Another fumble, to careless throws that coulda-shoulda been picked.. bouncing it to Heath on a 3-10, the overthrow...
I blame the coaches for idiotically not pulling Mendy after that run.. but if Hines holds on, or Ben hits the lob to AB, it's forgotten... also have to blame the coaches for the head scratching decision to go for the blocked punt.. they obviously saw something there, but we didn't need it.
Timmons is so frustrating.. but i do think (but have not rewatched) that some of Keisel's disruptions were allowed by Timmons tying up the tackle. I'll give him some break for playing out of position, but that's no excuse for the missed tackles... Hood seemed ok.. he tied guys up, but needs to grab that INT...because the D needs to make some plays....

Whichever way you look at it we scored only 17 points at home against the Jagoffs!!!!
We did nothing at all second half, ben was wretched, but the play calling didn't help.
It's long been known that Ben does not possess a great deep ball, and even more so now than ever, he appears to be not actually throwing to the receiver, he appears to be just putting it up there in the vague area hoping, it's long enough, he is dreading under throwing it, so is putting to much on it. I wish he'd just trust his instincts and throw the ball to the man.
We just new that a decent offensive display could not be repeated two weeks running, . . yep second half Airhead completely lost the plot going EB and making every other play a long throw for a homerun!
Wretched, . . . hardly a pass to a back all game. All this and Tomlin just stands there like a prick!!
Arians D- at the most
Ben D-
Like watching Laurel and bleedin Hardy!!

On the last play of the game, Woodley got pushed so far beyond the QB that he was off camera. I think he started jogging to the locker room before the ball was thrown.

Agree with Mill as usual. We should of beat the Jags by 40 points. Ben is very disappointing. Its his eighth season and he still is very inconsistent. He will never be an "elite" QB because of this fact. The defense is a joke.
Can you imagine how bad tom brady and co. are going to whip our ass? It will be real embarrassing. Oh well it could always be worse. (stains fan).

The Steelers will only be as successful as Big Ben is!

Well, I really, really, REALLY don't want to jump Ben's shit.......I mean he's one of the (you could argue THE) best things to happen to the Steelers in the last 20 years.......and now he's got exactly what he's always wanted, a star-studded line-up of highly reliable wide receivers, one of whom is both tall and extra fast. However, it's been looking like one of his worst years ever, for some reason. I'm not sayin' he even deserved the D+ that Mill gave him this week......He didn't give the game away like he did in Fartimore......maybe a C-......but his accuracy has me concerned. In all reality, the guy that needs to be most concerned is Big Ben himself. Lately, he's been getting plenty of time to throw the ball, and his WRs are getting WIDE-the-fuck open, so he's gotta be careful the sporting press doesn't start hanging him out to dry. Even though none of his misfires made any of the highlight reels, every announcer I heard analyzing the game had to spend some time talking about how off the mark he was, and how it was a contributing factor.
I even hear the Post Gazette has already started a "Ben Apologists" committee by reporting on how much the wind affecting things (like Ben's throwing) in the 2nd half, even though his misses in half#1 were the worst of the bunch. Whatever......like I said, I really don't want to jump all over his shit.....but some games that we really need to win should be coming up.......hopefully as near to the end of the season as possible........so Ben, just don't do that shit when the season is on the line, ok?
