That was as bad a football game as I've seen in the NFL for quite a while. Major suckage on both sides of the ball.

Why did we never run a hurry-up? Personally, I think it's because Arians doesn't like to be shown up in the play calling department by Ben.

Why can we not run a screen pass to save our ass? A couple well run screens could have brought an end to the bull-rushing by the Colt DE's. They never had to even worry about screens.

What does a 2nd teamer have to do to get playing time on this D? Or are you supposed to sit and age like scotch whiskey until you've been aged 30 years?

Nice job Mill. I know some of the readership gets after you for your "perceived" harsh comments but your analysis is spot on! The only changes I would make would be to Give Arians an F- (or lower if possible). You are exactly correct in your comments that the Steelers seem to have no thought out game plan against opponents and certainly DON'T HAVE THE ABILITY TO ADJUST. At least give the offense a game plan that works against the weaknesses of our opponents and NOT into their strengths.

Keep playing like this and quality teams will just make for an early exit from playoff contention.

I was surprised to see a full analysis after a late night game by the Mill. Must have been like me and too pissed to sleep after midnight

Pommah, THAT IS EXACTLY why we don't see a hurry up, but other teams use it against us. Ass Arians will be shown up if and when we score. Anybody have the % on scoring when we used it last year, yr before? I'd bet we scored some points 2 out of 3 times or better.

Screens, screens, screens, - as bad as this line is, they wouldn't even need to disguise the damn play to let the DL in.
We just cannot create any deception what-so-ever to create space. We should be passing to set up the run as bad as this OL is. Healthy or not, this line is bad, period!

Mendy, give him some credit, he has no where to run, at anytime. He will get his head handed to him at some point. Why Redzone doesn't see touches or lead blocks is beyond me? This David Johnson experiment is working pretty good, eh?

Let me start by trying to make the case that the glass is, in fact, half-full. A win is a win, and the Steelers are now just one game behind the Bills in the face for the number one seed for the AFC playoffs. (So are eight other teams, including the Jets and the Patriots after their debacles yesterday.) There were some positive signs last night: Polamalu and Harrison were superb - the first turnover of the season couldn't have come at a better time; the passing game was strong; and Antonio Brown is one of the best return men in recent history. Still, this game shouldn't have been close, and the Steelers used up some good karma getting last night's win. The glass is really half empty because the offensive line is so atrocious that it is disrupting the performance of the entire team. The running game is ineffectual, which puts the defense on the field more often. Ben R is under constant pressue, which is leading to costly turnovers. Next week's game against Houston will be very revealing.

Mendy had me screaming at the TV in a blinding rage most of the night. You can't fake anyone out trying to juke side to side in a 2 foot hole. Get your damn pads low and run someone over. Even on his 15 yard run, he was VERY careless with the ball and almost fumbled. Finally, when Dumfuk Arians called a decent screen pass, Mendy, with 2 blockers in front and acres of room, stutter-steps and allows 2 tacklers to converge on him. Hit someone you big weeping pussy!!!

I laughed my ass off on the one running play where Saturday SOLO blocked Fat Casey 5 yards downfield in a big circle. Can we get a better look at McClendon?

Arians - Where to start??? Oh, I don't know, how about you MOVE THE POCKET??? JEZZUS!!! 0-step WR screens are not working. Middle screens are not working. Can you possible call a play to get a skill player out in space?

On a positive note, Glibert does appear to have some potential. Whether or not this coaching staff can develop his talents remains to be seen.

TOMLIN has got to go!

When are you going to point out how very bad he is as a head coach? His coordinators continue to make poor in-game decisions and yet he doesn't confront them. What is he - a figure head?

I'll go back to the Super Bowl and how Big Ben was not prepared for the two minute drill to win the game. How could this happen? He was running around scared and confused.

Once again, the offense has not been prepared for at least two games this year.
Once again, the defense plays timid, meak, unagressive football in terms of play calling and yet we have some of hte most agressive players in football.

The head coach must stand up to his coordinators at some point and put his approval on the teams direction. Tomlin isn't doing this now and hasn't done it since he showed up. I think the young man is just scared because he's still in his 30's and his OC and DC are far ahead in age.

He's just too young and inexperienced and doesn't have the clout to make the changes necessary.

we're in big trouble folks. If we go 8-8 , we'll be lucky. Mainly for two reasons.
1) We can't stop the other team from pressuring our QB.
2) We can't put any pressure on the opposing QB.
We are done. The window has closed. Ben will never see the SB again.
We signed all those players to those big contracts and they all went to sleep.
Just facing reality.

The Colts run defense forced many long, obvious passing situations. Indianapolis set the Stillers up just the way it likes to do teams. I have said before, Dwight Freeney is one of 5 defensive players who can significantly impact a game at any time.

Good news for the Stillers is that they have two of the other 5. This defense once again comes up with the late, game breaking play when they absolutely had to have it. Great work from Troy and Harrison on the touchdown.

Offensively the Stillers are a work in progress, but I never would have imagined 360+ yards out of Roethlisberger vs. Freeney and Mathis a couple seasons ago. Although he had some critical turnovers in the first half, Ben was very effective on the final drive, and sent the team back to Pittsburgh with a W.

The play calling was complete shit--yes Socrates tippy toed once he got to the LOS. But if you watch the film again, note that the Colts DBs came to the exact hole where the runs were going to and stuffed them like they knew they were coming. The Colts were completely at the right place..good defensive play calling and horrible play calls. Arians isn't a guy who runs the ball all that well. What can you say about that shit offensive line? I can't recall a Steeler tackle so completely dominated as Scott. He was bull rushed, he was finesse rushed, perhaps Scott has a career as a matador. Great work on the offensive line Colbert...signing the Colon and Scott? Benji isn't going to survive much longer.

Good review as usual. D didn't really play as good as one would've thought here. In fact, they angered me beyond belief in their inability to get to an old has been who never was, who even in his prime a long time ago, had the mobility of a sick sea turtle. Even more infrurating than that was that no talent Painter leading them on that 80 yard TD drive right after The Steelers had presumably put the game away. And even worse was how they couldn't stop the run when they should've been expecting it, what with a 3rd string QB in. 86 yards for Adumb on only 17 carries. Terrible...

This is true. However, the coaches and namely Tomlin should be doing something about this. He isn't and doesn't show any signs of getting the nerve up to confront anyone in the Steeler Offensive and Defensive brain-trusts to change matters.

In 10 years time he might be a great head coach, but his youth has been and remains a huge problem.

Jon Scott.................................allowed numerous other pressures, and rest assured, this guy is going to cause Ben to exit a game on either a stretcher or a golf cart.

How bad can a guy look during 2 wins and still be kept on as a starter? I guess we'll find out if the Steelers continue to employ this pile. If we lose Ben for the season because of this punching bag, then Tomlin should have to forfeit 1/2 of his pay for the year. Does he really have the final say on the roster, or are we really that broke that we can't sign someone who isn't a bag 'o barf? I haven't hated a Stiller player this much since Mike Tomczak.
