This.........is one of many reasons the Steelers pissed away a highly winnable Super Bowl.

Jerrico Cotch ! Liked the guy with the Jets, LOVE the dude now. He's strong as an ox, and is quick and smooth. Very reliable. He showed his value last nite. A rare but savvy move by Colbert. And to think the dumbfuck was trying to sign Jaxico. With Sanders hobbled, Cotch becomes very critical. We can line up 4 very capable WRs on passing downs......2 flyers, and 2 reliable veterans. I likes it.

To quote Ike Taylor, I didn't like it, I loved it. The Jets will rue this decision to let him walk. When healthy, he gets open and moves chains. Shocked he didn't end up in SD with his old pal Philip Rivers.

Mill - great article as usual, but you missed the biggest highlight of the game. Ben actually threw a swing pass as a blitz outlet to Moore (I think in the 2nd Qtr). That is what, the first swing pass in years?

Let's hope they keep that up.

It seems our receiving corp has improved every year recently. We basically swapped Randle El for Cotchery since the beginning of last season - no disrespect to the improving Sanders, but that's a huge ass upgrade! I would not be surprised to see the 6'8" Lyons make the team over Grisham and Battle, since Ben has been begging for a tall receiver. ST rule changes make Battle more expendable. Both of those guys would make 75% of NFL rosters. It's unbelievable how deep this group is. Keenan Lewis must start over fading Fad and gay Gay. Really like what I see from Mundy so far. It goes without saying what we all think about Redman. You have to give Colbert his due on the recent draft success. Our drafts have turned out to be pretty damn good if you ask me. Have a great weekend all.

Has Lyons even played this pre-season? I don't remember his name being mentioned at all....

...Lyons had a Sweedesque 'drop and flop' moment at Washington.

Curtis Brown looked good sticking with receivers. His short area quickness and explosion is sweet. I expect him to make big plays once he learns the defense, and is comfortable with his teammates.

Cotchery is a classic Steelers move. They got what they needed, and did it with out an excessive amount of fan fare.

The Eagles won't be going deep in the playoffs if Michael Pick or Vince Drunk show up at quarterback.

I totally agree that #30 Donovan Warren needs more PT with the first team against the opposing team's top talent. Also, Cotchery's TD catch with a defender draped over his back was a thing of beauty. It showed the moxy that some of our younger receivers need to emulate.

Other young players on my watch list:

#54 Chris Carter (LB) - He will need more work, but definitely reminds me of James Harrison. Would be nice to see him use more than 1 move to get to the QB.

#42 Da'mon Cromartie-Smith - This guy seems to always be around the ball, which is his job as a safety. Likes to lay the wood on opposing receivers and is not afraid to take on a RB. Need to see more against stronger (1st team) competition.

#66 Tony Hills (OL) - How did it take 3 years to figure out this guy wasn't good at tackle? Seems to have slowed the revolving door at RG.

#69 Steve McLendon - Showed a flash of something with a good FR in his only game last season. Has done a good job of clogging the middle late in these last 2 games. Could be a solid NT for the future. NFL.com lists him as 6'4" and 280 lbs. Yeah, right! This guy takes up 2 seats on the team bus.

I agree about the new KO rule. Watching another game last weekend, Mike Pereira said that last year, 80% of all KO's were returned in some fashion. He also stated that the competition comittee will re-examine the rule change if the percentage this season drops below 60%. Doing the math from 2 Stiller preseason games (which I know is not a league wide sample) 3 total returns after 15 KOs = 20% (that's HUGE and very boring).
