Harrison's Men's Journal Comments
Men's Journal Link
Much has been made about Harrison recently. However, I would encourage everyone to consider the timing of the above press release. This story carried the headlines for what is probably otherwise the most boring Tuesday and Wednesday of the summer.
As far as our favorite team is concerned, JH spoke out about what is there for everybody to see. Truth is, some of the organization didn't give their best performance at Super Bowl XLV. Other people could have been more politically correct, and he was overly critical of Roethlisberger and Mendenhall but---we are familiar with Harrison's character---he doesn't feed the cows.(equation; JH - feeding the cows = no bull shit) Without the veteran leaders of this team's locker room maybe there could be a problem. I don't see it, though. Pittsburgh's purpose to achieve is to important, and the Steelers desire to continue to raise the standard of excellence in the NFL is what comes first. Harrison's teammates shouldn't worry that the most intimidating bad ass in professional sports was/is eager to get the new season started. Hold on Jamie, quarterback sacrifices aren't far off.

He fits his nickname SILVERBACK best to leave him alone or he will break you in two just for looking at him wrong.
Re: Harrison's Men's Journal Comments
My $0.02:
Harrison has been LOCKED OUT by none other than Goodell and the owners. Thus, he is not under contract and therefore not under Adolf Goodell's dicatatorial rulership. He is essentially unemployed. He committed no crime; nor has he been arrested or charged with anything. I checked, and free speech is still allowed in this country. Ergo, no fine, no suspension, no punishment.
This is actually an unintended consequence of the lockout, which the all-knowing Goodell failed to anticipate. Look for more commentary in this regard from the players.
The comments toward Ben and Aristotle Mendenhall were indeed unecessary and in poor taste. They most likely were twisted. An Army 4-star general (McCrystal) was basically fired several months ago for coments in an article in Rolling Stone magazine. Weeks later (long after his firing) it was discovered the RS writer "adjusted" a good bit of the commentary and quotes. Please people, spare me the belief that writers/jounralists are holier than thou and more accurate than a Cray computer.
Bottom line: Harrison stays, unpunished. Drive on, Jamie !!

Re: Harrison's Men's Journal Comments
Ben R did suck in the Super Bowl and up until seeing Jesus because his ass might be in jail, he didn't work hard enough to be consistent. Goodell is a slimy little cocksucker. The League's sudden concern over concussions is absolute bullshit when you consider that they want a longer season. What is the problem with what Harrison is saying? He has the balls to speak his mind. Should a physical linebacker speak in nice but pussy sports cliches?
Re: Harrison's Men's Journal Comments
I agree with Mill, that the article might be less than 100% accurate or, at least, occasionally lack context. That having been said, I was not pleased to hear Deebo's ruthless rant. Pissed at Goodell? Fine. He's an ass. Pissed at just about everybody? Fine. I loved it when Harrison said he wasnt goin to the White House after the SB. I even liked it when Joey Porter used to hike his jersey up pregame and heckle everybody right down to the opposing team's ballboy. If you ain't wearin' Black and Gold, you're fair game. I am NOT, however, a fan of publicly throwing your teammates under the bus. No legitimate purpose can be served by that. If you have a greivance, bring it up in the locker room or, at worst, get the coach involved. DON'T start airing dirty laundry at the public level. Not to mention, Deebo talks about the "D" having to bail out BR7 "again". I seem to remember a certain drive a couple years back where BR7 did exactly that for the D when the swiss cheese D let ARI score like three touchdowns in the fourth quarter. What comes around goes around. That's why it's a "team" sport. Button your lip and do some sprints, Jamie. Play football and leave the commentating to Mill. He's better than you at it anyway.

Re: Harrison's Men's Journal Comments
It's likely that the journalist went into the interview with a list of controversial material that he was hoping to get out of Harrison. Because he was around James for 4 days, that gave him lots of time to record as many things on his agenda as possible. The implication that JH would choose Peyton Manning as quarterback over Big Ben is garbage. Evidence for as to why this is so foolish is clearly displayed in consecutive Super Bowls, one of which Harrison competed in. Late in SBXLIII when it was time to wed the Stillers with title #6, Big Ben cut the cake and led a touchdown drive. Late in SBXLIV when the Colts needed a score to tie, Manning cut the cheese, and went down in a heap.
Reading the Cold, Hard Football Facts would lead us to believe Manning isn't demonstrably better than Roethlisberger, in fact, he isn't better at all.

Re: Harrison's Men's Journal Comments
I agree, Steel. Big Ben's clutch and attitude fit the Stillers way better than some pretty-boy, dome-thrower anyway. I think the part of that cold hard facts piece that sums it up for me is the following:
"The Steelers have won three AFC titles and two Super Bowls in seven seasons with Roethlisberger at the helm; the Colts have won two AFC titles and one Super Bowl in Manning's 13 years at the helm."
Nuf said.
