Alternatives to Direct TV
Assuming there is a season (and that's another topic), I'm trying to determine what alternatives exists to watch the games besides Direct TV season ticket.
The "free" local coverage is the Bears and the Colts. The season ticket for Direct TV is now at $353 for the season.
I'm not the most web savvy person so thought my fellow Stillers may have a website (I seem to recall folks mentioning something in that regard on here in the past). I'm not against paying, just looking for something a bit less expensive.
I don't know about you, but I really don't give a hoot about watching the other games. All I need is a way to get the Stillers on...the rest of the teams can pound sand.
Thanks for your help.

Re: Alternatives to Direct TV
The alternatives on the web will change before the season begins.
Once the "Man" manages to shut down a site, the website creators creates a clone with a different url. They may change .net to .com, slightly alter the name in the url, whatever it takes to both avoid the "Man" as long as possible AND maintain the highest traffic. That is, until they have to change the url again.
Those websites are directories that have links to the games which are always posted by OTHER websites.
The other websites are streaming websites such as justin.tv or veetle. They were created (supposedly) to stream random bulllshit people do at home. When someone streams the game (which is obviously illegal), they can't just put STEELERS VS. RAVENS as the title if they want to keep the video up, which is why you need those directory websites, in order to sift through the bullshit.
The other thing the directory websites are good for is finding foreign videos (e.g. Veetle videos typically stream from the U.K.), which are very rarely shut down.
Long story short, go to a bar.

Re: Alternatives to Direct TV
What many don't know is that you can haggle with DirecTV on this stuff. I do it every year. In fact, a few years ago I was even able to get Sunday Ticket for free.
It's kind of a luck of the draw type thing, because you might get a dick for a customer service rep on the phone when you first call. If you ask for a discount and they resist, hang up and call back to get someone else.
I think the people who pay full boat on these sports packages are nuts.

I dont know how much my Sunday Ticket costs each year, and I dont care. All I know is that, whatever it costs, it's cheaper than the drinks and greasy food I end up buyin at any sports bar, not to mention the DUI's I kept gettin on the way home...

Re: Alternatives to Direct TV
If it comes down to it, m1k3 has a valid point about not settling for the first option. I was in Best Buy not to long ago and spoke with a Direct TV sales associate about dropping the price on the package. There is room for negotiation. First time buyers of course have the option to get the Sunday Ticket package for free.
