one of the first things I thought about was how this team is starting to share the overall accolades with the 70s teams we also love so much. Troy and James both with NFL Def POY awards sounds familar to having multiple winners with Blount, Lambert, and Greene.

Pouncey for Offensive Rookie of Year!!!!! Who is his competition - a QB that didn't make the playoffs (Rams), and a receiver that didn't make the playoffs (Bucs). Suh a strong candiate in Detroit for overall rookie.

Awesome to see Troy get this. I'm am tickled to think how many Ratbird fans are driving nails through their own dicks after hearing it. The other great thing was, when interviewed about winning it, Troy basically said, it's great, but I never like to see one guy get an award like this. I guess people have to vote, so they pick someone and vote for him, but every time I make a play there's ten other guys who put me in a position to make that play. It's a team defense.
Contrast that to the nauseating, five minute interview with Brady while he and the interviewer took turns trying to lick Giselle's sweat off Tom's balls, and you see the real difference between the two.
I personally think that Kiesel's beard could beat Troy's hair in a fight, tho.

I love Troy, but I think he doesnt deserve it. He had a few good games this year. The rest of the season he was out or invisible. Of course he sucked ass in the SB

i tend to agree. There were all too many games where he either sat, or did little. 4 splash plays, and the guy wins the DPOY. go figure.

I'm sure Troy would exchange his trophy for even just a chance to erase what happened two weeks ago.

A nice piece of hardware that he has been well deserving of for some time, but not the ultimate prize.

Truth be told, there aren't any defensive players out there that've had more memorable, or game changing plays this WHOLE season than Troy P. Sure, most of them were before the playoffs, but there aren't any close seconds this year. I'd almost say it's a weak year for football overall, seeing as I'm having a hard time remembering many offensive or defensive plays. The ones I do remember though, have Troy Polamalu written all over them.

Face it......we owe (mostly) the whole damn (regular) season to Troy making defensive plays. I'm just going to go ahead and say it..........Troy is too talented of a player for him to have NOT been playing hurt at the end of the season. It's just a damn shame that a guy like him puts so much on the line ALL damn year, and ends up having nothing left for the playoffs.

The ultimate proof of my statement is that Mill had only minor criticism of him in this playoff series. If it had been any other Stiller player that had been such a non-factor (I'm looking at you Lamar) then that player would've been sentenced to a 10 year gulag by this site's illustrious leader. Conversely, Mill had nothing but confusion to relay about how poorly Troy was playing.

Given Mill's over-criticism of every other Steeler, then it's completely logical that the league feels that Pola is the best defensive player overall. He'd be the first defensive player anyone would pick in the whole league........and maybe first overall.......we're lucky to have him.

Your entire post was contadictory and senseless. Troy had 3 big plays. THAT WAS IT!!! This is DPOY? You had Suggs for the Ravens, you had Peppers for the Bears, you had Matthews for the Packers all men who had good games EVERY game. TThey voted this thing to Troy before the facts were evident. Its a popularity contesest.

I luv Troy but no way he is DPOY. 3 or 4 splash plays & a couple gms missed shouldn't win an award that big. Did he make one single solitary play in the playoffs or SB???

Somehow I've a feeling Troy's best days may be behind him - his body is definitely breaking down. How can he possibly stay healthy w/ the reckless abandon he has??

Here is the problem I have with troy. He disdains traditional training favoring instead a more holistic approach. It is evident that Troy racks up more injuries than the avergae. Therefore I believe that Troy should at least consider something different. He is rapidly approaching kendrell bell territory. I would not call hjim China doll, considering some of the things he does. But damnit, it is getting to the point that when we need him, he is either out or playing hurt. No matter what you think of Troy, it is no damned good if he is hurt.

This being said, I am going to say that the second half of the season troy was NOT playing 100%. there is something in one of his legs that perpetually nags him, hamstring, quad, knee or all of the above. But we have not heardf anything about a surgery, so we are left to wonder

Your post is a bunch of malarkey. No offense. Matthews disappeared the whole middle part of the season after lighting up the sacks department in the beginning of the year. You couldn't give him DPOY because a player in his same position (and on our team) had arguably better stats than he did. Matthews did not single handedly turn around a defense. A lot of their success came due to their nickel package and their upgrade at CB (Williams specifically). The Steelers defenses was the best in the league, and most of that was attributed to Troy's return.

If you think that Troy only had 3 big plays this season, then I'd say that you might only watch highlight reels, as opposed to the actual game. I'd think that was something that a non-Steeler fan might do. Hell, even just watching the season's highlights will get you at least 1 replay with Troy in it, and they were always huge plays.

Oh Bullshit to both of you. I didnt say Troy sucked as far as inate talent (he is perhaps the best all round safety there has ever been), I said I thought Troy had a flat tire and could not do his Troy thing and this relegated him to the Umbrella role. This is why he fucking disappeared. And why the victory disappeared. Put down the koolaid and slowly back away

DPOY was a joke

Who do you give to? Matthews? I already reasoned why Clay couldn't of been chosen. Peppers? Maybe. Ed Reed? Meh.

You do realize the Steelers D was statistically #1 in PPG. Troy was a huge part of that. The 2009 winner, Charles Woodson, was even more of a joke. Revis had a way better season than him.

No, I still think Clay Matthews played with effect further into the season than Troy. I will repeat, I think Troy was hurt more than he let on. You cant name someone DPOY based on 1/2 a season. Too bad too, because he was on a superhuman tear until the mysterious dissappearance
