2011 Draft Wish List
JJ Watt DL from Wisconsin. He looks like A. Smith the second coming. Aside from the obvious need for CB, this draft looks ripe with DT, NT, and OL. We should be looking pretty good after this. Who is on your list?

If they don't re-sign Ike, then they need to draft a CB in the 1st round. (Hell, you could argue that even if they DO re-sign Taylor, they should draft a CB in the first round anyway.) But if they don't, I'd be O.K. with drafting a D.L. instead....

Re: 2011 Draft Wish List
Mike Tomlin once said he planned to "defend every blade of grass" I fully endorse this! However, the "yard" currently has some corner back cultivating issues that must be assessed. Bryant Mc"Fire Ant Mound"fadden and Willie "Rusty Lawnmower Blade" Gay could use some maintenance. In no Super Bowl should Anthony "Just Get The Chemicals" Madison ever be featured. Lewis and Butler are currently in the dark yet to emerge from the earth. Taylor right now is a big .
Re-upping Ike T. would be very refreshing. A free agent, or especially a high draft choice could shine a ray of hope, as well. Planting a solid young root (Curtis Brown) would potentially help to germinate what has recently been seeded. A composite of these things should help stabilize the Stillers pass defense.
A secondary upgrade is crucial. Pittsburgh has to improve in that area.

Re: 2011 Draft Wish List
My top picks for round 1:
1. Jimmy Smith, CB (Trade up)- A tall, physical corner at 6'2 211 lbs. that can easily come in and play next to Ike. This is the kind of corner that the Steelers need. No more nickel-sized ones like Gay and Burnett. He also ran a 4.38 40 and did a whopping 24 reps on the bench. He could go as early as 23 to the Eagles.
2. Mike Pouncey, G (Trade up) - Had a pretty good combine so his stock is on the rise despite a mediocre season at center in Florida. He could easily start at right guard and end the musical chair game playing there. I expect him to go in the 22-25 range though.
3. Brandon Harris, CB - A little smaller than Smith but has instincts to be a great corner. Ran a 4.43 40.
4. Derek Sherrod, OT - A solid tackle with good size, long arms and great technique. Though there isn't too much urgency at this position though with Colon being offered the tender, Starks coming back from injury, and Flozell still in limbo.
5. Rahim Moore, FS - A bit of a reach here but Ryan Clark sucks.

At this early stage I agree with all except Moore. I agree Clark sucks, but we have got to upgrade CB and OL. I'm all for moving up twice early. Grab one of the needs and then trade a pick this year and a top pick next to grab the other top need.

Re: 2011 Draft Wish List
-Brandon Harris- Impressed at the combine to the point he would be a steal at the end of round 1. Certainly the pedigree is there because he played at the "U".
-Curtis Brown- It has been my opinion that Texas players are overrated. Top prospects from Austin historically have personified the celebrity and prestige that comes from the University of Texas, but that rarely has translated to NFL success. The last couple drafts though, have seen some Horns become solid professional contributors. Brown practiced with elite Longhorn players in the secondary all throughout his stay, and also played against stiff competition. He looked the part in Indianapolis.
-Rashad Carmichael- Scouts say a lot of the right things about this guy. Very fast, aggressive, likes to tackle and can play zone.
-Chimdi Chekwa- Good size and speed combo. If he can play half as ninja-like as his name sounds then he will be awesome.
Any defensive back privileged to be chosen more than likely starts out as the dime back. For Pittsburgh that means not only being able to cover, but that he will blitz. The secondary prospect who combines the best of both attributes would make the best selection. These are players who could help out.
