Steelers Sign 6'8 WR...
But don't get too excited. Steelers recently inked 6'8 245 lbs WR Wes Lyons to a 2 year "future/reserves contract." Lyons, who played his college ball at West Virginia and was a TE there, went to The N.Y. Jets training camp this past season, but didn't land on any NFL Team. Still, with his height at the position, maybe they could catch lightning in a bottle. Or maybe not. Either way, it's a low risk/high rewards proposition. Thoughts?

tell him to put on another 60 pounds and play on the o-line. That's where our offense needs help.
Re: Steelers Sign 6'8 WR...
He'll do great on the scout team next Season... It's either that, or have him bulk up to 275 lbs., and teach him how to block well... If he has any type of hands, he can replace Matt Spaeth at the 2nd TE position. Spaeth couldn't block my 5 year old, let alone block a LB in run plays...
Bruce Arians: Proudly carried the Honor of Short Bus All-Star 2007-2011. Good job, and glad you're gone Dumbfuck!!!!!

Re: Steelers Sign 6'8 WR...
That's what I was thinking, Ed. He was listed as a TE coming out of WVU in last year's draft.(One scouting publication had him at 6'9.) I have no idea why he switched over to WR. You would think he could at least block half decent, what with him playing TE on a West Virginia Team that has been heavy on the run the past several years. Also, with his size and frame, you think he could dominate when he goes out for a pass. Then again, I thought the same thing of Spaeth, so you never know....

WVU grad here................
Wes Lyons played WR at WVU and he did it very poorly!!! HANDS OF STONE!!!
Looks good coming off the bus, but on the field he could not catch anything.
Kevin Colbert continues to find the worst tall receivers in football.
Wes Lyons could not play tight end........ever.
How Colbert keeps his job is beyond me.

Assuming that is true, Colbert would've been better off inking former 1st Round (apparent) bust, 6'5-6'6- WR James Hardy to that same futures/reserves contract. That is if Baltimore didn't ink him to a f/r contract first. I'm saying all this as I don't think Sweed will ever play a meaningful game for The Steelers again, and it would be nice to have a WR with some size.(Although not a requirement, especially if he's terrible...)

Maybe they thought they needed someone tall after watching Ben in the Super Bowl.

This is going to be a tough one, but I think I'm gonna take a crack at it:
6 division titles
7 playoff appearances
5 conference championship game appearances
3 super bowl appearances
2 super bowl victories
...in 10 years.
Some of the shit people write/think on this site really boggles the fucking mind sometimes. There's only one other organization in the league (maybe two if you count the Colts) that can rival the type of results Colbert's efforts have helped produce.
Santonio Holmes, Willie Parker, Ben Roethlisberger, James Harrison, LaMarr Woodley, Lawrence Timmons, Troy Polamalu, Casey Hampton, Antwaan Randle El, Mike Wallace, Heath Miller, Rashard Mendenhall, Brett Keisel, Maurkice Pouncey
....are just SOME of the names that Colbert drafted/acquired for the Steelers. There are at least 2 players from virtually every one of his drafts since 2002 that are STILL on the roster (including *5* from 2007).
If you don't think he's done a good job, you might just very well have Down's Syndrome.
