Packers

Postby Pommah » Tue Jan 25, 2011 12:07 am

First off, how many of us thought we'd be in the Super Bowl after getting toasted by New Orleans then New England? I'll admit I didn't, I thought this was gonna be one of those "About Three Bricks Shy of a Load" seasons, good but not good enough. Now we are one game away from a 3rd championship after a quarter century hiatus, and a possible rebirth of a Steelers dynasty.

But I gotta say, I respect the hell out of the Packers - the Franchise, the players, the fans. Christ, Green Bay is the size of Johnstown, but they have their own NFL team! Ya gotta respect that! I had occasion to be in Green Bay on business quite a bit about a decade ago, and I gotta say, I really liked it there. Great people, nice town. It's hard to muster up any hate for them, unlike playing say the Cowboys or Patriots. Almost hate to say it but I won't be all that pissed if we don't come up with a W here, like I would have been had we lost to the Jest or Ravens.

Agreed on every point! I could have written your post (save for the part about being in GB on business).

I'm feeling incredibly fortunate to be alive while this Steelers team is playing. I'm 27, so I wasn't around for the first 4 SB wins. I learned what it was like to be a fan and want so badly for your team to win the big one. When we finally got the one for the thumb, I knew I was witnessing history. I had the chance to see them get a SB win- something diehard fans of the 70s and before had been waiting on for so long.

When we won the one for the other thumb vs Arizona I was on air! I couldn't believe that I had witnessed 2 SB wins already in my lifetime! Going to the SB this year is almost too much- in a very good way.

I hope everyone appreciates how exceptional this feat is (unlike Patsie fans, who expect all other teams to bow to Brandy and Belidip as they let them pass to their "rightful" places in the SB game). I'm not taking this team for granted. Doing what they've done is not easy to do no matter how you spin it.

I'm also thankful for a QB that gets the job done without the metrosexual hairstyle, model wife, tailor-made officiating rules and media hype. :D

No chance. You say that now, but when black and gold trotts on the field at game-time..I suspect you'll change your tune.
