Chips falling out way...now how do we beat the Jest?
Couldnt have asked for a better weekend for Stillers fans. We come back to beat the Ravings, and the Jest take it to the Patsies. Oh how I would love to be back in New England, listening to whiny pats fans...who have now not won any championships when they didnt have film. But I'm on the road all week.
I think we match up much better on the Jest than we would have against the Pats, and we get to play at home. Sanchez is no brady, which helps us. Still we have to keep them to 10 points or under because the Jets D proved formidable today; how do we score on those guys? they have a "big play" defense much like us.

I'm going to sound like a coach....but, the way you win......don't turn the ball over....play good defense...limit big plays.....minimize mental errors. Good strategy from Pop Warner and up.
Stillers should focus on the Jets...not look ahead to either GB or Chicago. Remember San Diego at Three Rivers in the AFCCG?
This is the NFL and, like Cowher used to say...."there is a fine line in this league between winning and losing." Anything can happen next weekend. Frankly, I didn't expect the Stillers to make it this far. For most of the season, they've stumbled around like a bunch of drunk sailors on leave in Singapore.
On one hand, the Jet's might be either cocky or on an emotional decline next week (big emotional win today). On the other, the Stillers could play like shit (think first half yesterday). Either way, that's why they play the game. Should be interesting.

I won't pretend to be an NFL coach in exile by offering football specifics but I will say this....
There seem to be many parallels between the Jets right now and the Cardinals in their Super Bowl year. If you recall, the Cards reacted to winning the NFC Championship game as if they had won the Super Bowl itself. They got very high - too high - and took some time to wake up to the fact that there was another game to win (although the final score shows that they eventually did).
I realize that beating the Patriots is huge for the Jets: a division rival that has been exalted by all especially the 'hometown' ESPN types but their reaction seems much more over-the-top than the Steelers who also beat a division rival.
The longer and harder the Jets celebrate the better it is for the Steelers.

We prepare for and beat the Jets in much the same we we prepare for and beat the Ravens; (obviously w/o the hideous turnovers). The Ravens D has not changed much-if at all-since Ryan was their DC. They play the same type of physical defense in NY and get good pressure on the QB from their base D. Scott or whoever draws the LT start will have to play an excellent game.
At this stage, the Ravens Offense w/Flacco is better than the Jets w/Sanchez. The keys will be to stop the run as usual and press their wideouts and TEs. On offense, protect Ben and use Heath to soften up the box for Wallace, but more so Sanders. (Wallace will draw Reavis all day leaving a better match up vs Cromartie).
There will be absolutely no "looking past" this game as these same guys beat us a month ago. I like our chances.

Keys to winning against the jets:
(A) Focus on that we have 2 more games this season; that means NOW. Celebration over the ravens should have ended an hour after the game. Forget the victory; remember our mistakes and fix them.
(B) Do not give up a opening KO for a TD.
(C) Do not give up a safety
(D) Full pad practice on Wednesday. Get us back in to the correct mentality that we need to come out playing STEELER football from the opening kickoff and do not wait till the 2nd half to start playing.
(E) Fire Bruce Arians
(F) Let Big Ben run the game

Thou doth smoketh the pipe. We will be fine. The rust from the bye is gone. Pola needs to practice but we cannot risk any injuries.

We might have lost the rust, but we still had a few too many mental mistakes. The pad practice does not need to be full length, just long enough of a practice to snap our heads straight.

Defense, defense, defense. Defense wins championships, in this case the AFC, and it will decide who plays in Dallas for the rings and trophy.
Troy is a phenomenon. How he can continue to make game changing plays, after season defining plays, after plays of the year is remarkable. It's really something to behold. Plays that are not just spectacular to watch, but ones that break the back of the opponents. Whenever Polamalu is healthy, he has a way of impacting his team as much as any sports figure I can remember. So glad he will be wearing a Stillers helmet on Sunday.
