Further Proof that Arains is a complete Buffoon

Postby Pump-N-Iron » Sun Jan 16, 2011 2:00 pm

http://nfl.fanhouse.com/2011/01/15/ben-roethlisbergers-play-call-antonio-browns-catch-carry-stee/

The play that came in from the sideline called for the outside receivers to run 15-yard "stop" routes, but Ben Roethlisberger didn't like the math. He knew it was third-and-19, and that 15 yards wouldn't do it. So in the huddle, with 2:07 left in a playoff game that was tied 24-24, the Steelers' quarterback changed the call. Roethlisberger looked at those outside receivers, Mike Wallace and Antonio Brown, and told them to run "go" routes -- as far as they could, as fast as they could.

This was, of course, music to the receivers' ears, and it was Brown who turned it into magic. He got past his man, Lardarius Webb, ran down the right sideline under Roethlisberger's perfect throw and caught it with one hand up against his outside shoulder for a 58-yard gain. That set up Rashard Mendenhall's short touchdown run, which set the final score and sent the Steelers to the AFC championship game

Once again, our Offense succeeds in spite of our totally inept OC. Thank God BR7 made the call. I know that we have beaten this point to death on this web site over the last few seasons, but once again, the biggest hurdle between the Stillers and Lombardi trophy #7 is our own internal saboteur, Bruce Arians.

Tell me about it!

I nearly screamed at my TV when we had that run, run, (3rd and long), punt possession when we had that slim lead in the second half. I thought for sure that idiot OC screwed us out of another victory. Thank God we got that last TD!

You analysts on this site...you are superb at analyzing situations...after they've already played out.

I'd love to be able to re-run the tape and roll it forward...only this time Antonio drops the ball.

So I could hear you all say "That asshole Arians! What was he doing...going for it all, when all we needed was something that could get 20 yards?"

Sorry, Jeemie, but we should have never been in that position in the first place where we needed a "miracle play".
This idiot ARIANS slowed their pass rush 1 FREAKING TIME all game - that 1 outlet pass to Mendy - that Mill mentioned - THAT WORKED! 13 yds and that was the last time we saw it. Hell's bells, all he did was have the guys run track all day - go deep boys, go deep! Ben has to wait all damN day for them to get open. He puts Miller in for a TE screen - a nice call but the dumbass has it set up right in the teeth of their "D". PLEASE TELL ME MT TELLS THIS BAFFOON TO SMARTEN UP AFTER HE SEES THE GAME TAPE.

Holy cow, we don't connect ON IT and we're punting to them and they get great field position. Hell, our punt coverage is atrocious. We can't kick to the sideline, we can't pooch kick to pen anyone inside the 20, when we do, some asshole does something stupid and we have to re-kick - just to MAKE SURE IT GETS IN THE ENDZONE. NO ST DISCIPLINE.

Redman gets the ball 1 freaking time ALL GAME???????????????? ARE YOU KIDDING ME???? THIS MAN IS A 1ST DOWN MACHINE.

See my new post with a list of things we damn well better correct or we will lose Sunday and all we'll get is a lower draft pick with no trophy to go with it.

The complete idiocy on this team does not belong solely to BA. The second dumbest move of this game came right after the opening kick-off. Challenging the spot of the ball on the opening kick-off has to be the biggest waste of a challenge EVER!. You have 59 1/2 minutes to make up for the shoddy KO coverage! Instead of wasting the challenge, Tomlin SHOULD have just went to the KO coverage team and oh, I dunnoe know, COACHED!

Tony,

I don't think it was a mistake to take that challenge. Think about it- it's the opening drive and emotions are running high. It was a minor victory in the minds of everyone to possibly put some momentum into the D (or at least take some momentum from the Ravens).

The only tragedy here is:
1. that the idiot refs didn't get the spot right in the first place and we had to waste a challenge
2. that, even if a coach wins all his challenges, there are only 2 allowed for an entire game

I completely disagree with the challenge on the kickoff being a mistake. There is a HUGH difference between running the opening KO to the 49 vs. the 35. When we play the ravens; it is always a very tight game and we could not afford to give them a free 14 yards. If nothing else, the SECOND challenge was a horrible decision, it shows that we do not have our processes in place to quickly make smart decisions from the coaches box. Maybe this is a result from MT hardly ever challenging throughout the year(s).

If a team wins their 2 challenges, they get a 3rd challenge. I do see this rule changing in the next couple years to a team gets to keeps their challenges until they have two failed attempts.
