The 12th man on the field
I have a question that I'd like you opinion on:
Why don't fans make noise while the opposing team is in the huddle?
I mean you see it all the time, the opposing team walks up to the los, and the fans get loud in an attempt to make it difficult to hear the snap. But there are ways to combat this; silent snap or just watching the ball, which is what you're supposed to do anyway. But if we (the fans) went all apeshit loud while the other team is in the huddle, wouldn't this create a lot more problems? Delay of games, usage of TO's, confusion and irritation, all from the 12th man.
Would this be considered 'cheating', or perhaps faux pas?
We need to be louder sooner.

I think the guys in the huddle are all close enough to each other than noise doesn't really bother them there. I don't know that it'd be possible to create so much noise that you couldn't hear a guy talk who's only a foot or two away from you.

well I was thinking more along the lines of getting the call from the sidelines.

The calls come in over a headset on O and hand signals on D I believe. It'd take a lot of noise to kill the headset.

All QB's and Defensive captains have speakers in their helmets to recieve the call from the sideline. Hand signals are just a backup system anymore.

Ok, tell ya what, this weekend let's try it. Tell everyone you know to tell everyone they know to make as much noise as possiable when the jets go back in the huddle. If it doesn't work, I'll eat crow.
