Would Mangini be a good hire for the Steelers???
They will need a defensive co-ordinator at some point.........LeBeau is like 75 right?
Mangini has a good record against the Patriots........who I believe will be the Steelers main competition for getting to the Super Bowl for the next several years.
He knows the AFC North.
He runs a 3-4 defense.........not a great one but hopefully LeBeau could teach him the finer points.
Just thinking out loud. Thoughts???

I'm a firm believer in promoting from within to maintain continuity. I would rather see Olsavsky or Butler get the gig eventually.

ARE YOU HIGH ON DOPE Arians is a mistake and we dont need anymore of the mistake on the lakes wash ups
if cleveland does want them then they shouldnt ever be considered for a job in Pittsburgh

I live in New England, saw Mangini here, I actually think he's a good coach. Like many who worked under Bellichick, he got promoted before his time, and into an organization with nowhere near the support system he had in New England, or would have in Pittsburgh.
I like the idea. I think he's smart. If he would accept being a coordinator instead of a HC he could do well.

I don't think because Arians is a buffoon who was once on the Browns' staff that you can say the same of Mangini. The latter would be a solid choice, and since he wasn't picked out for Tomlin out of the gate, our head coach would have more leverage to dictate what he wants. I've noticed in the NFL that a guy generally gets two chances to be a head coach. After that, you see guys like Capers go back to being coordinators most probably until they retire. I doubt Mangini will get another HC gig.

excellent observation, SteelandBlood. No one's gonna turn over the keys to Mangini, but if he eats his humble pie, he can ride shotgun. Look at guys like Charlie Weis, Dick LeBeau, etc. No shame in not being HC material.

Not only that, but he has been promised the job when Lebeau retires.

I would not hire any coach that worked under Belicheat......... It's fool's gold. Since the Pats do cheat, it tends to make the coaches look better than they actually are. Not to mention losing so many coaches, yet the Pats somehow remain an "elite" team.
Whenever Tom Brady loses, it's always someone else's fault.
