While the TD return against the Stillers was borderline illegal, the KO return opening the 2nd half against the Dolts was DEFINITELY illegal...... It was an old-fashioned four-man wedge, the very thing deemed illegal by the NFL. But no flag...........

They were talking about this after the Steeler game. More than two return team members can converge on a downfield tackler and reach him at the same time, so long as they don't go downfield in lockstep, two or fewer feet apart from one another.

It's a "gray area" in the new wedge rules, and a judgement call on the part of the officials.

When the new wedge rule was announced, several teams went to the drawing board with new return blocking schemes to take advantage of this gray area.

One of them happened to be the Jets led by Rex Ryan.

There was a story on this that I used to have the link to- let me see if I can find it.

But in short, Ryan is aggressively going right up to the edge of what is legal on KO returns...and kudos to him for doing it.
