LeBeau - One Trick Pony
Lebeau deserves credit for the defense he designed. I think whoever invented the single wing deserves credit as well. The point being is people figure out ways to attack you when you have a single dimension to your attack. If his blitz schemes don't work other teams just roll up and down the field. All NE did was look at the film of how we play at the end of games. Figured out that we can't stop the pass if we don't get to the QB and threw the ball all over the park. No it didn't help that Timmons went down, but instead of bringing in an athletic Sylvester instead of Slow o'Foote? They played the nickel with 2 down lineman most of the night without success. So why not play a 3 down set and create more pressure in the middle to free up the OLB? If Woodley is titty jousting then try Worilds. All of these adjustments are straight forward. I'm no defensive genius so why can't this so called genius see that adjustments need to be made? At some point age catches up and your creativity wanes. I think it's past time to put this one trick pony out to pasture.

We seem to always go tits up when playing NE. Brady has owned the Steelers for some time now. NE is the only team that I fear around the league.

Football coaches are stupid. Belichick is not. In the land of the blind, the one-eyed man is king. He's got one of the most accurate passers in history, and we have a team built to stop the run. So why bother trying to run? Establish the passing game then run when you want to, not the other way around. We have two good DB's, Troy and Ike. We have three who suck, Gay, McFadden, and Clark. So throw where the bad ones are, not the good ones. New Orleans did it in the 2nd half, Brees was like 20 for 22. The question is what took them so long to figure it out.

I was awaiting all the Lebeau bashing to start. How about this dark mirror; if Arians had us as the top 3 offense in scoring, run yardage, and pass yardage for most of the past 10 years would we be yelling for his head now. Certainly not. But that isn't the case and this is not a comment on Arians - all of a sudden the Lebeau haters (and I am not referring to any of the gentleman who posted above me) are out in force.
To me, it is about execution of a defense not design. And with execution it comes down to talent. Give the steelers 1 and a half shutdown corners and all of a sudden we are immovable. We do not have the personnel needed to run any defense to shut down the run and pass simultaneously. We can't blitz consistently and we can sit back in 6 man zone consistently. We certainly can't man up and play receivers one on one.
Patriots beat us because they play 75% passing and they have one of the best QBs in recent history to carry that out. The way to beat Brady is send the house - but we do not have 6-7 blitzers/d-line rush to get that done well enough.

I have respect for what LeBeau has done. I just think anyone in sports in one position too long loses their creativity. Throw in the fact that he's getting up there for a coach and I think he's lost the edge. As for Arians, I feel it's been completely covered and he's an oxygen thief. If you're old enough to remember Chuck Noll you'll remember that he was maybe the best coach ever, but there's no doubt that it was time for him to move on. Probably a few years before he did. I've been a fan since '73, so while I might be old enough to forget, I did live through it.

Well, it looks like Nnamdi Asomugha is free agent as of today, so…
You asked with your eyes Trent, you asked with your eyes.

This is an indefensible position. You can't exonerate the guys whose schemes don't or no longer work by saying that they don't have the personnel when those are the same guys who are responsible for us having the personnel that we do have.
