Re: New Article: All Time Top 25 Stillers
People are probably going to say who should've been higher or lower, but i think this was a strong valiant job at composing a list.
I also loved Aaron Smith being on there. My own personal opinion though, I'd have Harrison higher. Like you said, he plays like quite possibly the best 3-4 OLB in the game. I'd go so far as to say, he deserves to be ranked higher than Lloyd.
My reasoning would be that, not only is Harrison a more productive sacker, force fumbler, but he also has had key moments in special teams and turnovers moreso than Lloyd. Not to mention pulling off the most key play in the '08 Superbowl.
Oh, and Dirt Dawson should be #1. (j/k of course)

Said it before, if there was a game of 11 vs. 2, those 2 would be Blount and Woodson and they would probably stand a chance because of smarts and skills.
Mel Blount has to be in top tier: 1a,b, c, d, or e

Incredible list! I watched the Top 10 Dallas Cowboys players on NFL network and they included Tom Landry as the coach and at #1. What kind of BS is that? It bothers me that Chuck Noll isn't considered one of the best coaches of all time with the most SB rings in history.
Also, alhough he is not top 25, was Louis Lipps ever considered?

Good work, Ruff. One comment -- I'd put Ben higher for one reason: no other individual is more responsible for rings 5 & 6 than Ben. In the long and glorious history of the Stillers, we've had 2 -- TWO -- great QBs. No coincidence that there were no titles after Brad, before Ben arrived.

AGREED!! I think Ben is the most over looked Steeler the past several years (although sometimes I think he plays better because of it). How many times did Cowher teams get to playoffs and LOSE with O'Donnell, Stewart, or Maddox at the helm. Ben's rookie year was incredible. The 2008 superbowl game was not a great performance by Ben, but he was incredible in the playoff run to the game - he single handedly saved the season when he tackled Nick Harper after the Bettis fumble. The 2008 superbowl winning drive was Montana like - Ben deserved to be the MVP of that game.

First off, I like that All-Pro was given greater weight than probowls. I don't really have much problem with the list except I would have rated Webster higher, as he was the best center in the game for so long, and anchored the line and kept an inferior unit straight toward the end of his career. He was always held up to us in high school ball as the best example of the ideal player: a man who never stopped trying to get better, was willing to pay the price, and a definite leader by example to all his teammates. I still remember an article in the Post-Gazette chronicling his workout regimen, which included running the steps in Three Rivers.
Franco in the middle of the pack was spot on. Among the all-time elite he belongs with in the Hall of Fame you can cite many of his contemporaries who were better. Even in his prime he wasn't the back Walter Payton or Earl Campbell was. That's not an insult either. He deserves his bronze bust in the hall. Bettis was a shade high I thought but it's not wrong to hold him in such high regard, I probably would have switched him and Webster.
Kudos to having Smith on the list period, and making sure to include Ben. Without #7 we don't get two more rings. He's that important.

No Top Whatever list is valid unless Dan Kreider is on it.

This Page needs a "like" button!!!!! Great list, though I would put Farrior above Porter, (based on Super Bowl rings and longevity).

Indeed, the man was a hammer. Just ask Ray Lewis. Of course, Arians wouldn't know what to do with the likes of him in his abortion known as an offensive (and I mean OFFENSIVE) scheme. Probably have him in motion for a shotgun draw from his own one yard line.
