Sweet - clears up some cap room and opens a roster spot for someone decent. They were carrying 3 centers, no? Stapleton.

Good Riddence...read somewhere "Mahan spent more time in the backfield than the running backs". This was a great quote and unfortunately not far from the truth. Stapleton is at least Mahan's equal already as a 2nd year free agent out of Rutgers.

I'm certainly not upset by this by any means. As long as there's some young-blood behind Hartwig to fill his spot in the event of an injury or something... I have no problem with the move.
Re: Mahan Gone...Yahoo
A seventh round pick was the compensation... more of a salary and dead wood dump than anything else. Obviously they like Stapleton better the bag of Sakrete they sent to Tampa.

It's amazing Colbert got anything at all for GayHand.
The draft pic (a 7th rounder) obviously won't pan with Colbert's day 2 woes, but I like the trade. Unlike Billy Cowher, Tomlin's not afraid to admit a mistake.

This news gives me a feeling of ... freedom.
Wow, a starter last year for a good team and then get traded for a 7th round pick? Nasty!

We might as well say we need Ben to stay healthy. We need Miller to stay healthy. We need Kemo to stay healthy.
Instead of hoping their health maintains, I trust it. It's crucial key players stay healthy in order to make it beyond the regular season.
So yes... Here's to Hartwig's health! And everyone else on the team for that matter!
(I didn't count 'em but it's close. )
