The return of Aaron Smith

Postby SteelThatDon'tRust » Mon Dec 13, 2010 8:48 pm

Anybody have or heard of any info on when this could happen? Like in time for a rematch with the Pats?

There was an article about this in Sunday's Tribune-Review. The writer noted that the key will be The Steelers securing that 2nd Seed, 1st round bye in order for it to be given any chance of happening.

Meaning we could get Smith back when the Ravens come to Heinz for the second time. :celebrate: Even so, how effective, one wonders, will Smith be having missed so much time? In any case, at least DE rotation would be solid.

He's working out now, I'm sure he's participating in the walkthroughs. 3+ weeks to go, I'm sure they won't let him play if he's not the showing positively.

We NEED the bye week. We cannot afford any letdowns from here on.
I see the Jets and Brownies as possible upsets, Jets biggest "scare".

I do not trust Ass Arians to devise anything resembling a game plan to put these games away early and get BR off the field. We will need Aaron Smith ready but I still see us as 1 'n dun unless Pats are taken out.

I understand what he is saying, but it doesn't make sense. It's pretty much a given that the Patriots will get on of the top two seeds. Let's just assume the Patriots got the #1 seed, and the Steelers got the #2 seed. The Steelers wouldn't have to play the Patriots until the AFCC. Now let's assume the Steelers get either the 3-6 seed. They would still have to play a wildcard game that would NOT be against the Patriots.

Therefore, whoever the Steelers play first in the playoffs will be anyone but the Patriots. That means whether the Steelers are "1 'n dun" or not, the Patriots will have absolutely nothing to do with it.

That makes no sense.

Maybe he meant 1 'n dun as, we win one and then are done the next round if the Pats haven't been takin out? The only way it makes sense really.

Yes, Mad, that is what I meant - typed too fast for thoughts and did not check. We NEED that 1st rd bye and win out now. I believe we'll win 1st playoff game (not so sure now!) but Pats have our number and no way do we have an offensive plan to keep the ball away from Brady no do we play close enough to stop him.

Against a championship level passing attack Aaron Smith and his ability to collapse the interior of the pocket is critical. The Stillers will need Smith for a deep playoff run.
