Can the Steelers realistically beat the Ravens this Sunday?

Postby SteelThatDon'tRust » Tue Nov 30, 2010 10:34 pm

1) We'll loose because the o-line is held together with chewing gum and duct tape.
2) We'll lose because we have, apparently, no pass rush.
3) We'll lose because the coaches, inexplicably, appear incapable of making necessary in-game adjustments.
4) Screw 1–3, there's no way in hell the Steelers let the Ravens sweep. :subngtowl:

What say ye?

You forgot We'll lose because the NFL officials and Adolf Goodell will find a way to screw us out of a victory

WE WILL WIN SUNDAY!!!!!!!

We have no pass rush because we always give a cushion in the 5-10 yard range, and opposing offenses are now using that cushion to use the "quick pop" pass before any pass rush could develop, no matter how good the pass rush might be. The Pats exposed this, and the Bills did a decent job exploiting this. (The Raiders didn't have a clue.) And I'm sure the Ravens will do so as well.

Sadly, we can't possibly win. and reason isn't listed in the OP.

Reason #4. The Godell goon squad.

They will be out in full force because:
A. We're the Steelers
B. Hines dared speak ill of the No Fun League

I grow less optimistic. With Ben's foot sprained (or broken in a spot), he won't have the mobility he'll need with our shit o line. And our shit o line has not impressed with the run blocking against good d lines. But why be so sour? The Ravens bring out the best in this team so we'll see. If the Steelers commit no turn overs, but create a couple of their own, it's possible to pull it out.

Steelers by 13. And that's after giving up a 4Q TD in garbage time.

A few things....

Postby LambertoCincoOcho » Fri Dec 03, 2010 1:55 am

POSITIVES- Kiesel will be back for this game and in the starting lineup. We have Ben back. We have a new Kicker. Didn't Reed miss a couple of FG in the last meeting? Flacco seems to struggle vs. our Defense.

NEGATIVES- Our O-line vs. the Ravens front 7. Our kick coverage unit is starting to give up yards again. Opposing backs are killing us in the passing game. If I see Farrior covering Ray Rice again i'm going to shit. Ben is still holding onto the ball too damn long. He needs to learn to throw it away.

Final analysis- This is a huge game on the road and the Ravens have added Boldin to their arsenal since last year. We will need to play mistake free football and hope we get the aid of a few turnovers then capitalize on those opportunities as they present themselves. If the Ravens dont turn the ball over they will win easily.

Our guys are pretty banged up & we're starting guys that were suppose to be 3 deep on the opening day to roster due to injuries.

I don't have a good feeling about this game.

The good news is, even if it doesn't go our way, we are likley to still make the play offs and I can't see us losing 3 times in 1 season to the same team.

The only thing that has me concerned, is that the Steelers don't appear to be improving at all as the year goes on. In fact, it seems quite the opposite. It seems as if every play maker we have has dropped off the radar.....except for Silverback, who has a tracking device shoved up his ass. Alternatively, it's also possible that the whole league has just gotten better, and we haven't, but I'm not buying that one.

Nope.....it's simply the absence of Aaron Smith, the incessant flagging of Harrison with BS, a porous O-Line, and the team's gas tank, that only appears to have enough fuel for half the game. Our playmakers need to start making plays again, the Gestapo needs to cut back on the hanky throwing (fat chance of this), and we need to start playing the WHOLE GAME.

2 out of those 3 could happen pretty easily, so I'm seeing a 66% chance of beating the Ravens. :subngtowl:

If our O-line plays well then we win, but if it doesn't, it could be a disaster for the rest of the year with Ben's foot all ready on the mend.

So, I don't like our chances this Sunday.

Can put this one in the loss column. Ben was running for his life much of the season and now he has a bad foot. They are playing the Ravens a step in quality on defense from Oakland, Buffalo and probably even the Patsies. The left side of the O line has Scott. He gets beat by less talent than the Ravens have. Flacco is no Brady, but he has much better weapons at receiver than Brady. Heap kills them as does Rice who the Steelers better not fukin try to cover with Farrior as that always proves comical. This one could be a blow out.

Unfortunately, all of the signs are there for a Ravens win. For us to win, we will need to win the turnover battle and we will need the Ravens likely to help us some with overly conservative play calling much of the game. We can never seem to cover Mason or Housh. We do not cover Heap either. We do not cover Rice. And our O-Line cannot stop the agressive blitz, nor do our receivers know where to go on the hot reads. The saving grace in prior years was Santonio. We do not have him anymore -- we decided he would look better scoring game winning TDs for the Jets on their way to contest for the best record in the AFC. I still do not know why we could not trade him to SF or the Rams or to any other team we do not care about.

The Ben injury may be a killer. He will probably get a medecine shot so he may move much better early than we would expect. But the Ravens will twist and pull the foot. You watch.

We need big plays from the secondary, special teams, and maybe Sanders or Brown at WR. The odds are not with us, but hope is still there. Let's root them on either way.

BTW, any doubt that the Steelers No. 1 draft pick next year with be OL -- probably OT?

Steelers win this game. No way the Purple Pecker Mouths sweep Pittsburgh. This game is about revenge. Revenge on the Ratbirds football team, and revenge on every Baltimoron fan who swears Joe Flacco could win a pissing contest with infinite rubber bands wrapped around his jimmy... Hardly an impressive game winning drive to conclude the first contest. Let me honerably mention that Joseph needed two tries to finish the job, and only minutes before the game clincher was thrown could be found on the sidelines wasting skin with Sam Koch. No sweat for Flacco though, as Charlie Batch was the quarterback at that point in the season. Not much of a threat backed up inside the 5 to pick up the one first down needed to seal the deal.

News for the Steelers though is they will line up a different player at Qb this week. Some guy named Roethlisberger. I believe he is pretty good. Much better than the 2nd teamer. Also, better than any signal caller the Ravens franchise has ever trotted out...and Joe Flacco has a uni-brow, and he hangs out on Sesame Street, and he will crumble in the face of an angry Steelers defense, and he's pedestrian. Trying to think of everything here...ah yes, the Baltimore special teams couldn't outshine a class full of resource students, unless of course Terrell Suggs was in the class. Talk about a guy who is a few bricks shy of a full load. That about covers this tilt.

Score:
Steelers 17
Ravens 15 (5 redzone field goals)
