- Patrick Bailey (LB)
- Eddie Drummond (WR) - Glad we didn't keep Allen Rossum 2
- Paul Ernster (P)-
- Billy Latsko (FB)
- Doug Legursky (OG) - I heard he was rock solid in college. I'd rather have him backing up Kemo than Mahan (and even moreso since Mahan wants out)
- Matt Lentz (OG)
- Roy Lewis (CB)
- Grant Mason (S)
- Ryan McBean (DE) - Wasted 4th rd pick
- Jeremy Parquet (OT)
- Scott Paxson (DT)
- Jordan Reffett (DE)
- Willie Reid (WR) - We should've kept him. I think he did enough to earn a spot on the team.

Gravity, I echo your comments.
Without Reid, I am concerned about punt returns. Is Santonio our #1 in that position now? We don't have much shake-n-bake left and I don't want Mendy being exposed on PR duties since he'll be called upon enough during the game. I'd rather have Reid for return capabilities than Baker for his size since he probably won't see much action on the field anyway.

Re: Final Moves & the 53 Man Roster
I dont see any surprises. Steelers have wanted to keep Dallas Baker the touchdown maker as hes six foot three inches tall....i think...or close...
willie reids stats are HORRIFIC...really terrible...and if there can be any final nail in the coffin ...CK said willie reid had MORE UPSIDE than DEVIN HESTER! And with that comment the steelers HAD to cut reid.
ernster was TERRIBLE this last game and the other guy was above avg. as far as punter competition went.
kerayan fox made the team...SWEET!
Anthony Smith WAS NOT CUT! HaHa ....the dude is a monster hitter
AND SURPRISE OF SURPRISE ALL OUR DRAFT PICKS MADE THE ROSTER except the two picked in the sixth round and BOTH were injured.
AMAZING.
So as it stands we have to have the tallest deadliest red zone group in the entire nfl
HEATH MILLER 6ft 5
MATT SPAETH 6ft 7
DALLAS BAKER 6ft 3
LIMAS SWEED 6ft 4
two years ago we had ONE tall target....miller.
TELL ME BEN WONT BE A SUPERSTAR THIS YEAR AND ILL CALL YOU A LIAR

Re: Final Moves & the 53 Man Roster
I certainly don't like the idea of Santonio running back the majority of kicks.
I would hope that Mewelde Moore will be back, lined up and waiting on kicks more than Holmes.
Heck, why not try to give Dallas Baker a shot at running some back? He's not necessarily a lightning bolt, but if he can prove himself sure-handed enough... Who knows? Najeh was returning too. Baker a good, durable size and I don't figure he'll be getting TOO many reps as a receiver.
I'uno.
Here's to football!

Re: Final Moves & the 53 Man Roster
Its good to see a guy like Donovan Woods make the team.
He's pretty versatile, highly unlikely to get any playing time at LB, but supplying cover at FS could be a possibility!
Here's hoping he makes an impact on ST.
Heck he even supplies us with QB depth!

Re: Final Moves & the 53 Man Roster
Nothing against Dallas Baker but I too am disappointed to see Willie Reid cut. He is a tough kid that I thought would develop into a nice possession receiver - in the mold of Hines. With Santonio, Nate and Limas I think the Steelers have their deep threat receivers already. I always thought Willie would replace Hines someday.
As noted Willie also will play special teams as a returner or a kick coverage guy.

Re: Final Moves & the 53 Man Roster
I'll be satisfied if the Stillers punt returner(s) can consistently hold onto the football. Our offense is probably good enough to compensate for low-yardage returns.
I don't want to see any fumbles in that phase of the game. Lost fumbles on punt returns can be game killers (especially for away games, imo), and the road schedule is difficult enough this season.
I think the release of Reid is not likely to create fumble problems for our punt returns, so I am okay with the decision.

Re: Final Moves & the 53 Man Roster
I have to agree with Nel.
It really doesn't matter who is back catching punts as long as they hold on to the ball.
We all remember back when Santonio was a rookie and duties were being traded between him and Colclough. That was super difficult watching for me. I don't ever want to have to hold my breath in the punt return phase of the game again like I did then.
We'll see how things progress in that regard.
I certainly don't want our bend-but-not-break defense to be put in position to have to work with a short field consistently either. Then again, maybe... Just maybe... The bbnb defensive days are over.
