"Camera 2, cut to Tomlin"

Postby Still CA Still » Tue Nov 09, 2010 11:00 am

Is it just me or did Mike Tomlin look scared shitless during the 4th Q tank? At least he wasn't doing the Dave Wannstedt hand-through-the-hair panic grimmace but he wasn't much further from it. For all the balls and bravado this coach talks about; unleashing hell "or what have you", he was far from it last night. If a team takes its cue from the coach, the cue was "Oh no, not again." It seems as if history may indeed repeat itself.

Oh Ye of little faith. Coaching had nothing to do with Jeff Reeds' miss or the Bengals converting the third and 15. Give Tomlin some credit for keeping the team together during Ben's suspension.

"Coaching had nothing to do with Jeff Reeds' miss or the Bengals converting the third and 15. "

Are you sure? What if the coach instructed Reeds to miss? As far as 3rd and 15 goes, how about playing 20 yards or so off of the receivers by coaching dictum?

Why would the coach do that? The nfl is a business out to maximize profits. Close games generate more advertizing revenue because tv viewers stay tuned in.

It took Cowher 14 years and heaps of blown chances and emasculating defeats to win one superbowl. Tomlin did it in two with the worst o line of any world champion in history and no backfield. He's not infallible or above any criticism but I'm still in his corner.

1st of all, when you have 3rd and 15 it is best to play the DB off the LOS and keep the play in front of you. That's just smart football.

And I'm sure Tomlin told his defense to just let Cincy score so the game will remain close. Are you for real? Does that mean Mangini ignored a mandate from the league to keep the NE-CLE game close? You fucking conspiracy theorists just kill me. The moon landing was filmed in Hollywood too, right? You are a paranoid idiot!

We won this game with an O-line held together with duct tape and we were missing our 2 starting DE's. Just enjoy the win and look forward to a beatdown of the Patsies next week.

I agree, I thought he looked scared.

He should have been yelling his ass off. They are football players, they expect to get yelled at when they fuck up. Which they were. To take that away from them is to alter their perception of the universe.

Beat up on these guys Mike, they need it.

I also thought he looked scared and bewildered. Like a whore in church.

I think the problem is that Tomlin is still too young to inform his stubborn D Coordinator that he shouldn't let off the gas so early in games. This is the single biggest problem that Tomlin has. He still doesn't want to rock the boat when it needs to be rocked hard.

These late game collapses are coaching related and specifically related to Dick playing prevent way too early and giving up too much free yardage. Everyone knows this.

Tomlin is just too afraid becuase of his youth and Dick's age to tell Dick to get his act together and stop playing such a soft prevent. It must be the worst prevent I have ever seen.

Remember the Titan game and what almost happened and now add to that the Cinci game. These would have been historical collapses.

Dick Lebeau the guru of defensive coordinators. Makes you wonder if Tomlin would have the balls to question him or tell him what to do.

He never seems to tell either OC or DC anything. He stands there like a empty figure head with his thumb up his ass week after week.

I disagree, Tomlin won a Super Bowl with Cowher's team now we know what Tomlin really is, a loser!

Tomlin is clueless, he is what we call in the business world an empty suit.
