The Boys of Fall

Postby indysteel » Mon Oct 25, 2010 8:25 pm

You fellas seen the Video "The Boys of Fall?" Caught in a hotel room while out of town. Probably been around for a year or so and I'm finally just catching up.

Couple of shots of the Stillers -- Franco, Bradshaw, and Greene. Lot of old footage....good intro speak by Sean Payton.

Brought back some good memories as well from my days on the field.

If this video does not get your blood pumping and a a few tears goiing, your likely not breathing.

If you've not seen it, go to YouTube. Then search for "The Boys of Fall." Should be the first video that shows up done by Kenny Chesney.

Enjoy this one if you've not already.

Good video. Good memories.

There are people who wouldn't go back to high school for all the tea in China. Obviously they never enjoyed playing football like some of us did.

Football is a legal fight. I still remember one of my coaches telling our team just that before a game. He went on to say something like--- "If you go up to someone and hit them in the lunch room you will get suspended, OUT THERE if you crack someones skull WE ARE GOING TO GIVE YOU A DAMN STICKER!!"

This song is cheesy as hell....and I love every second of it.

Pretty much everything in the song was true about my high school. We lived in a tiny town where football was all that mattered (Davidsville, PA), always wore our jerseys on Fridays, felt like we all worked our asses off for the right to be on that team, etc.

And I'm sure there's 10 million other people saying the same thing, since that's the point of the song, but I'm OK with that.

I always love when I talk to some snob who looks down on sports like they don't have any benefit to society. I learned more life lessons about work ethic, working as a team, selflessness, making sacrifices, and pride during a single football practice than I ever did in a classroom. I honestly don't know where I'd even be today if it weren't for football.

I think we should start a movement for some kind of "Coaches Day". I don't think the non-sports people realize just how important a role a coach can play in a kid's life. Those same people will give all the credit in the world to a teacher that might not even give two shits about the kid, then scoff at the notion that a coach does anything relevant at all.
