McCain screwed up BIG time! His only valid argument was that he had the experience and Obama didn't. By selecting a VP with 20 months experience running a state with less than 700,000 people, he can't make that argument anymore. Dumb, dumb, dumb.

It doesn't hurt that much. VP's do varying degrees of nothing. It's still the POTUS calling all the shots and its his experience that matters. By the same token, that mitigates the "balance" they want to pretend it offers with her bringing a much more conservative view to the ticket. It's clearly a move to sway some women voters and get conservatives to the polls. But from my perspective, VP is almost equivalent to "Mr. Irrelevant" in the draft.
