Why the hell did we sign Randle El?
Can somebody please answer this questions for me?
Do they really think he's still a fast enough player for effective punt and kick returns? Can he even catch the ball?

Randle El is simply awful. Not sure he knows how to run straight ahead. Please use Brown.

Don't you think we signed him before they knew what they had in the rooks? Now, that we know what we got, he is simply depth. I even think Battle would beat out Randle El at this point, but Battle and Sanders can't stay healthy.

I think they let him come back on board for depth and little else. I like El, but really he's always been the guy you want for the safe dumpoff, as indicated by his minsicule yardage so far.

Re: Why the hell did we sign Randle El?
He's pretty much the guy with the sure hands that's scared to get hit. He has fallen over by himself numerous times throughout his career. It's remarkably similar to Willie Parker tripping over wind in the backfield.
Without his adequate speed he had about 8 years ago, he's useless. Signing him was a desperation move by Tomlin. The same applies with Foote and McFadden even though the latter was a good pickup (they shouldn't of let him go in the first place).
The problem with Tomlin is that it takes forever for him to do something so obvious to everyone. It took a year to get rid of Mahan, it took an injury to bench Parker in favor of Mendenhall, it took him 14 weeks to bench Gay, and it took him years to get rid of our o-line and ST's coach. Look at how long it's taking him to fire Arians...And don't be fooled with the Pouncey move. Had Hartwig not been injured in the preseason, he would have been our center until week 10.
Now after seeing Wallace so successful in his first game 1 last year (again he was playing only because Limas Pee'd was injured), and seeing Brown and Sanders lighting it up not only in the preseason, but in actual games in Browns case, isn't benching El obvious? After seeing Moore play like any washed up back for the past two years don't you think it's time to see Dwyer in there? Not for Tomlin because he's a pussy and scared to build his own team.

Re: Why the hell did we sign Randle El?
All week long, I have been pondering this post in my head. I agree that ARE offers little at WR as compared to Brown and Sanders. However, at this point, with all our QB issues, and since BR7 is the only QB permitted to pass the ball more than 6 yards downfield, I am AMAZED that we haven't seen ARE runnning some version of a wildcat with BOTH Redman and Mendy in the backfield with him. I know ARE is not really a running threat, but as long as we are grinding out 3 yards at a time against 8 and 9 man fronts, let's use 2 TEs and run the triple option.

Ya really can"t judge ARE til Ben returns. Christ, every ball in his direction has been aimed at his feet.
Once they get A.Brown some KR handles, he'll be able to get chores full-time.

Hey, at the rate we're going through QB's ARE will be starting there for game 4. With Ward as the backup.

i thought antwaans grab as well as catch awareness on punts really contributed and helped seal the win... it almost looked like the ducs were intentionally kicking short so that all the catches were in traffic... whatever another dub on a hot day
