QB Dennis Dixon will be given the chance to hold the starting job for the first four games if he plays well, according to head coach Mike Tomlin, reports the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review's Scott Brown. "Injuries are a part of the game," Tomlin said. "They are unfortunate but they also provide opportunities for others. What others do with those opportunities often time determine what happens going forward. I acknowledge that."
Pittsburgh Steelers PK Jeff Reed will handle kickoff duties in Week 1, reports the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review's Scott Brown. Reed and P Daniel Sepulveda split kickoffs during the preseason with Sepulveda given a long look at handling the job.
