The Detroit Lions have released OT Jon Jansen, reports MLive.com's Tom Kowalski. Jansen had been sharing reps at right tackle a week ago but was released as Detroit looks to get younger along their offensive line. Jansen had been one of Detroit's most consistent tackles, but OT Gosder Cherilus had played better as training camp wore on and OT Corey Hilliard offers them flexibility with the ability to play both right and left tackle.

Unrestricted free-agent OT Jon Jansen (Lions) said he wants to wait to see what kind of interest he receives from other teams before deciding on whether he will retire, according to Dave Birkett, of the Detroit Free Press.

Based on what little I've seen of these guys from the Colts and Lions, respectively, they're probably at best a lateral move from Flozell and I doubt either is as good as Starks.

I watched the Carolina replay last night. Flozell is not getting any better with pass blocking at RT. In fact he is just down right awful. He is going to be a liability.

He still looks better than Willie Colon.

I disagree. I was watching Flozell on every passing play and he was letting guys swing right around him time after time. Colon was no all pro but he was better than that. Flozell is a little more punishing, a little more attacking on running plays but the tradeoff here is horrible.

I am going to predict that the first passing play against Atlanta will be a sack with Flozell providing directions to the QB.

Directions to the QB... I.L.M.F.A.O. big time!!!! funny shit! Really, in my opinion, Da Stillers had absolutely no business taking Flozell from the Cowpokers...seriously, W.T.F.????!!!!!???? The Cowpokers???? That says it all right there!!!! :sushootem:

i still think they should have tried starks at RT and tony hills at LT. hills was really impressive this preseason and against pretty good players too. in the giants game he looked like he more than held his own against kiwanuka who ain't no joke.

Flozell was sleep walking through the pre-season. Whether or not he turns up the intensity and dominates the way we want him to remains to be seen.

Hills would probably have been adequate. With Adams however, the opportunity for Pittsburgh's offensive line to be nasty and physical in the run game is much greater. Steelers are going to have a :sufu: attitude this season. Opponents are going to need a good supply of krutches and smelling salts. :sucrutches:

my guess is that Jonathan Scott will be having to fill in after a few games. I really posted to ask does Bouchette really have to headline every article with "On the Steelers:". Where did that come from. You think his editor would have hit him on that by now. I didn't want to start a new string for that complaint but I had to get it off my chest.
