Dwyer or Redman?
I was all for Redman until I had the chance to see Dwyer play. Dwyer has a nice quick step, bounced out well for the TD against the Giants. I think we have all been 2 year fans of Redman and his ability to break tackles but I think Dwyer may have some interesting tools at his disposal. I am a particularly fond that he never fumbled his last year at GT. Dwyer does not make it past waivers for the practice squad if we cut him. Redman probably does.

Stillers would be nutz to cut Redman - he's proven his shot. Dwyer had good college stats but you can't make the club from the tub.
Cut Dwyer - keep Redman.

Sneak Summers to the practice squad? You can offer him with Troy and people wouldn't bite. Summers is that terrible.

Completely agree with No Gravity. This is a no-brainer. Why are we even having this conversation?

Cut Dwyer - keep Redman.
Dwyer must have cut two holes in that hot tub to run for 89 against the giants. I was thinking he was dragging giants defensemen but that must have been just a hot tub wrapped around his waist

All 32 teams passed on Dwyer numerous times in the draft. They'll likely pass again if he is cut.
Keep Redman. He has produced better results.

you know, maybe arians' master plan to have no FB in our offense was to draft the worst possible candidate for fb, so we'd have no choice but to go with no fb at all

We must keep both. Redman is a Stiller-type back who can pound it, break tackles, and move the pile. He is also a ferocius blocker both in the running game and on blitz pick-ups. Dwyer has a quick 1st step and has mad moves in the open field.
My prediction is that Redman makes the game day roster and eventually takes over the 3rd down back position. Dwyer should make the final 53, but probably won't dress for any games, barring injury.

Mendenhall and Moore are the third down backs.

Um, Mendenhall's the starter. That's not to say he's never ever appeared on third downs ever. He has. However, Moore is the current third down back.

Re: Dwyer or Redman?
actually Mendy takes more snaps as the 3rd down back (last year and expect this year) and is better at it than Moore. Mendy better pass blocker and better RAC.
Mendy is actually one of the few 3 down backs in the league. Ray Rice, Ahmad Bradshaw (seems to have taken starting duties off of jacobs) the others right off the top of my head.
I was surprised but delighted to see the steelers keep Dwyer and Redman - it didn't think that a legitimate move until the replies in this post - good thinking going on here.

Not sure why you are asking. Mendy starts we all know that. He is also the principal third down back.

Re: Dwyer or Redman?
Every time I see a hand off to MeMo, I cringe. Sorry, but his skills as a runner have diminished. These could and should all be carries for Redman or Dwyer. Both of whom can do MUCH more than MeMo with the ball in thier hands. I will still give MeMo credit for being an excellent pass catcher, especially on screen plays, but I pray he never gets another hand off.
Having Mendy, Redman and Dwyer gives us supreme depth at the RB position, which is a nice luxury to have. If only we had that kind of skill & depth at ILB or CB....
