Dennis Dixon

Postby steelwest » Sun Aug 29, 2010 9:45 pm

I will state the obvious. He cannot play. He is JaMarcus Russell with speed. Leftwich will at least give us a chance to win. The opposing defense does not respect the pass at all when Dixon is in.

This was obvious even before the two picks. You cannot miss wide open guys in the flat consistently. Dixon is just not accurate.

He should be cut. If I were the Rooney's, I wouldn't even pay for his flight back to Pittsburgh.

Is it possible our coaches are thinking that our oline is so bad that Leftwich won't survive so Dixon has to play regardless of how bad he is?

I don't think the whole line looks wretched, merely mediocre. I know that's really trying to look at the glass as half full but they haven't played that bad except for Essex. That said, they have to prepare Dixon because they can pull a game out of their ass if he starts and busts a couple good runs and the backfield clicks, but only if they get him reps now.

One of the worst throwing motions I've seen from a NFL QB. Doesn't seem to have the ability to put eneough zip on the ball.

He has no arm. I said this last year during the Baltimore game. He really is useless without his legs and I'm not being stereotypical.

dixon has to start ...the whole team player like crap not just him...the oline was terrible gave him no time whatsoever...one bad look in the endzone ...from here on out he will step it up and start and win ...hes into it give him a chance...lefty looked like he was going to pass out after 2 plays...the slowest qb ever ...did anyone else notice when dixon was in that the snap seemed delayed or something?...(around the same time as the two false starts)

They really need all the QBs, at least until Ben comes back from his suspension. I don't see the starter making it through all the games before Ben comes back. Leftwitch is a statue behind a bad o-line, Dixon is going to scramble and get his head taken off one of these times, and Batch will somehow get injured if he has to jog onto the field.

I think after Dixon missed his opportunity Sunday night, Leftwitch, who really is a proven NFL-caliber quarterback (a spot starter at best), is definitely the starter. Dixon has been able to move the offense (by scrambling, dumping the ball off and the use of an effective running game against second-teamers), but the thing that worries me about him is his inability to look downfield and make throws over 10 yards, which is necessary on this team because of the offensive line plan and the "assaholic" playcalling by Arians. How many times last year did Ben bail out drives on 3rd and long? The answer, a lot.

I'm not ready to throw Dixon under the bus, but in his 3rd season, he should be able to move the offense solely with his arm when asked to do so and make throws at all ranges.

For the first 4 games, Lefty will be the started and Dixon will come in for a Slash-type roll. I just hope the our Dim-bulb OC can avoid being as BORINGLY predictable as he was on Sunday night.

Looks like Dixon should get a chance to prove himself. If Dennis lets the game come to him, he will do fine. If his stats read 9-22 for 99 yards, and no Ints or fumbles then that would be a success. I happen to think he will play better than that, and as long as he does let the game come to him he will get several opportunities every week to make a big play.

Dixon had a really tough chance playing @ Denver. He tried to make too much happen, and got out of his element. That happens to a lot of opposing players vs. the Broncos. Dennis is going to be fine. As long as Dixon remembers that punting isn't the worst scenario on 95% of the possessions then Pittsburgh will be in every game. Dennis Dixon should have all the confidence in the world based upon which defense he has backing him up.

Leftwich was replaced everywhere he played. Maybe this was the inevitable - and we didn't have to wait to be 0-3 before it happened - but then again, we can be 0-3 at the same time with Dixon. That is why they play the games.

Pittsburgh Steelers QB Dennis Dixon is in line to be the team's starting quarterback for Week 1, reports Mark Kaboly, of The Pittsburgh Tribune-Review. The team, however, has not made an official decision and could opt to go with veteran Charlie Batch instead.

I'm with Fire Arians on this one.

Dixon's not the best, but he's not as horrible as say, Jamarcus.

He has several things going against him, like coming out of a spread system in college. But I think his passing is decent enough.

It's understandable though, how many of my fellow Stiller Fans would so easily have Kordell Stewart Flashbacks.

I think every time Kordell would pass a ball, my heart would stop beating.
