Postby thesteelhammer » Sat Aug 21, 2010 7:43 am

Word is that Ben will play today, but The Pittsburgh Steelers are not saying if QB Ben Roethlisberger or QB Byron Leftwich will start the preseason game, reports The Pittsburgh Tribune-Review. Both quarterbacks could see snaps with the first-string offense. Head coach Mike Tomlin wouldn't say if QB Dennis Dixon will also see snaps with the starting unit.

Pittsburgh Steelers OT Flozell Adams will start at right tackle, but will rotate with OT Jonathan Scott when the first-team offense is on the field, reports Gerry Dulac, of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. Man are we in trouble at OT.

CBs Bryant McFadden and Keenan Lewis are battling for a starting job at left cornerback, reports John Harris, of The Pittsburgh Tribune-Review. Head coach Mike Tomlin said Lewis has had a very good training camp and may be ready to take the next step. Tomlin also noted McFadden has done a "rock-solid job" during training camp.

Giants.com's Michael Eisen says out D will face New York Giants QB Rhett Bomar as the starter in the team's preseason game Saturday, Aug. 21, and Bomar is expected to play most of the game. Eli is being rested do to some stitches he received in the last game.

New York Giants OG Chris Snee (knee), OG Rich Seubert (hand), WR Ramses Barden (back), QB Jim Sorgi (shoulder) and S Michael Johnson (back) will not play in the team's preseason game Saturday, Aug. 21, according to CBSSports.com.

Pittsburgh Steelers rookie RB Jonathan Dwyer (shoulder, hamstring) is doubtful for the team's preseason game Saturday, Aug. 21, reports The Pittsburgh Tribune-Review. He has been bothered by both hamstring and shoulder injuries, and could be losing ground on being the team's short-yardage back. He may also be hurting his chances of making the team's final roster.

C Justin Hartwig will start at center Saturday, Aug. 21, against the New York Giants, reports The Pittsburgh Tribune-Review. He will rotate with rookie C Maurkice Pouncey. ORT Jonathan Scott is also expected to see some snaps at right tackle with the first-string offense

DT Steve McLendon (knee) and OL Chris Scott (foot) have been ruled out for the team's Aug. 21 preseason game, reports The Pittsburgh Tribune-Review.

Man, Farrior looks much faster this year. I was particularly impressed with him catching Steve Smith from behind. That would have never happened last year. Maybe all the talk about him playing lighter this season is true.

i would be great if someone could provide more detailed analysis on where the team stands right now. From what little I have seen, I think Leftwich will be okay for four games. Mendenhall seems to be coming around fine. the receivers should be fine with Randel-El, the rookies, and Battle. I originally thought losing Holmes was going to be a big deficit but now I think the added depth and playmakers may more than compensate. The depth on defense should be a big plus. We have more corners and LBs than possibly ever. There is some depth on the DL. The main issues are how good everyone is and whether Troy can stay healthy.

The offense seems okay assuming Redmon is a real backup and the OL is okay. I am not sure the OL is ok and that may be the big problem. How bad is Urbik? Can we really not find a RG better than Essex? This seems absurd.

If there is any good sign, the problems some other teams have seem much worse. Now, if someone that has been in camp most of the time can reply, we can get a good analysis going. :celebrate:
