Nice grouping AJ97. Forgot about some of those players. I would have guessed wudu's list would have covered some of those #1 picks based on length alone. The Pittsburgh Media really does its best to annoint these players. I still hold that a #3 pick and later should be a prize with a success rather than a bust with dissapointment but Lanza was given a lot of extra merit at his time.
You also reminded me how forgiving, and naiive, I was when younger - I used to love Bob Kohrs - but looking back I can't understand why.
Didn't Simms have some strange story attached to his career with the Steelers? A Terry Long type of story (aside from the suicide).[/quote]

You put Sepulveda there over that guy that Bitch Berger beat out 2 years ago? Fuck I don't even remember his name but I remember his punts didn't even go 10 yards.

Mean Keith Gary went to Canada in 1981. Another bust, and not the type found in Canton.
Cannot recall the problem Simms had-other than he couldn't rush the passer very well.
Greg Hawthorne and Abercrombie were major busts-although Hawthorne was converted to tight end in 1982.
Anyone remember the name of the DE drafted in either 80 or 81 out of Oklahoma? Oh- it was John Goodman. Ended up leaving football to star in the Rosanne TV series. He was that bad on the field.

No, those two John Goodmans are not the same person.
