Steelers no.3 in pre-season rankings in AFC North

Postby DashRipRock » Sat Mar 06, 2010 10:23 pm

Just my prediction. Balt made the Boldin move. I bet our draft does nothing to excite anybody but our whomever our drafts excite. Of course, if Ben ends up in jail, we're fighting for the number three spot.

The Ravens getting Boldin does scare me. He does have a durability issue, though. Playing in the AFC North will be much tougher than he's used to, so he may end up w/ more hard hits than ever before, worsening his record of staying healthy. Time will tell but this acquisition may not be as scary as it seems at first.

I think it was a great move for the Ravens.

When people load the box with 8 - 9 players to stop Ray Rice and McGahee, Boldin should do some damage. I truly believe this is the year where Joe Flacco will be absolutely exposed - as an avg. QB. The addition of Boldin and Stallworth (and the probable re-signing of their possession receiver) will take all the excuses away as to why Joe Flacco has not made the leap to greatness.

My bet is Raven fans will find out this season...he's just an average Joe.

Lord help us if I'm wrong.

I don't care for Pre-Season rankings solely because they rate Indianapolis as the favorite to win the Super Bowl every year...

True, Baltimore made the great move picking up Boldin. He's a strong receiver with durability concerns... It's still a huge upgrade over what they've had at that position the last couple of years. It'll all rest on Flacco, and his ability, or inability to execute their offense... We'll see. I will say Baltimore's gonna have to upgrade their aging Defense though. It's not the same Defense, although the Sports Press will blow smoke up their asses by saying it's the best in the league...

The Crows still have age & mileage issues w/ Heap & Mason - if he even comes back at all.

The Crows still have defense issues - how long can Ray Lewis be a factor?

The Crows still have not proven Joe Flaccid is any good, post-season - I think I saw a stat 2 TD's & 7 INT's in postseason, 60 rating, in 3 or 4 playoff gms.

Joe Flaccid's only win vs the Stillers was when Dixon was QB - and it took OT to do that.

If Ben comes back from the edge, if Troy comes back healthy, if Mendenhall keeps improving, if the draft can provide depth at OL, LB, & the secondary, & if the Stillers have learned their lesson from losses last yr vs the hacks (Oak, Cleve, KC etc), they should be OK.

Bolden was a great WR w/ Warner pitching him the ball.

The Stillers need to worry about the Stillers - and 10 or 11 wins should result.

I think these are all huge ifs. The Steelers have done nothing to mend their secondary woes or offensive line. I would not count Ben to be a factor at this point. We will know better after the DNA test, if it is in fact his the next uniform he will wear is stripes and they won't be black and gold.

I agree the Steeler need to worry about themselves, but they don't seem to be doing anything to improve.
