Blockbuster Trade looming involving the Raiders.

Postby LambertoCincoOcho » Fri Jan 29, 2010 4:23 pm

Raiders and Steelers are talking mega trade. Per a source close to the Raiders organization. It does involve Nnamdi Asomugha. These are preliminary discussions. Who or what the Steelers are offering is unkown at this time ........more later.

The Steelers never make "blockbuster" trades. However, if they did, I can't think of any other team I'd rather trade with since they are infamous for making ridiculous moves! I would compare it to playing chess with a 5 year old.

Trying to remember...

They brought the Bus here on some sort of multiplayer deal with the Rams, right?

How can this trade be looming if these are only preliminary discussions. I'm sure the Steelers are looking around the league for quality players. It's just Due Diligence.

Do you have an article somewhere that mentions this?

They've made trades before for players that fit the teams' system. I seriously doubt this is even true...

If the Steelers were somehow able to get Asomugha from the Raiders it would signal the apocolypse. Outside of trading for Bettis, who was coming off a terrible year, 15 years ago I can't remember a single move this franchise has made that would be that exciting. I wish there were more blockbuster deals in football like there are in hockey

I'd love to see us sign, or trade for an 'impact' type player. Since it's the Steelers, it rarely happens.

As I stated in another thread... We got the BUS on draft day for a 2nd round pick that year, and a 4th round pick the next year, hardly a blockbuster trade.

File this under 'ain't never gonna happen'.

It'd be the shit if it were true, but dude makes like $15M/yr. Seems to me that alone makes this a non-starter.

This will NEVER happen since Al Davis HATES the Steelers and has done so since 12/23/72. He went ballistic when Nolan Harrison, a scrub DL signed with the Steelers as a free agent. Make a list of teams he will trade with and the Steelers will be the last team on that list.

Al Davis is so old & Alzheimered, he may not even remember the rivalry in the '70's w/ the Stillers. That being said, I hope any dream deal for this Raider corner involves Ike & his undeserved salary. Throw in Billy Gay & that would really make it worthwhile.

Maybe Davis wants Sweed to add to his collection of Busts of Wide recievers.

You heard it here first. Look for talks to heat up in a deal involving Roethlisberger and Asomugha. The organization is becoming frustrated with Big Ben's off the field behavior and inability to maintain a balance between extending plays and throwing the ball away instead of taking sacks. He lacks anticipation on deep routes and routinely under threw wide open receivers deep down the field. The Steelers place emphasis on employing "high character" guys within their organization. They need another CB because they feel 2nd year man Keenan Lewis can more than adequately replace Ryan Clark at the FS spot. Lewis, a converted CB has the hands and range to be a ball hawk in the secondary and increase the teams lowly interception numbers. Ryan Clark is held with high regard within the organization and was allowed to bow out in a mock contract dispute. A classy move by the organization. The Steelers believe they would have the best secondary in the NFL by adding Asomugha to work opposite of Ike Taylor. The Raiders have given up on Jamarcus Russell and would love to add a quality, established veteran to replace him. Pittsburgh covets Jevan Snead and was seen spending plenty of time with the Ole Miss QB after his impressive combine workout. Snead had by far the best arm of any of the QB's who threw at the combine and the Steelers believe he can be had with the 18th pick.
