Re: manning v roethlisberger
well numbers don't lie and it's true. manning typically folds in the playoffs. roethlisberger on the other hand, doesn't put up pretty numbers like manning but the dude knows how to win. that IMO is much more important, i'd rather have a winner than a pretty stat sheet. not to mention a lot of manning's numbers are inflated from running the score up on teams they're already beating by 20 points.
dare say manning maybe really isn't that good? if you consider he throws for 4-5 TD's whenever they play weak teams in the regular season, but he doesn't do so hot when he's forced to go up against better defenses come playoff time. food for thought.

The article is right, although the numbers are not necessarily legit (aside from the W-L records).
According to my calculations, Manning's median playoff QB rating is 85.0, whereas that of BB is 89.
The median is a better metric to use because it equally considers how the QB play in every game. That is, it prevents number inflation (when playing against lower competition).
Also, in 18 games Manning has a median of one 1 TD pass per game; BB's figure is 1.5 TD passes per game. INT's are even at 1 a piece per game.
Yards per Attempt (including yardage lost per sack):
Manning = 7.4
BB = 7.57
More playoff QB ratings numbers for ya:
Brett F. = 91, W-L = 13-10
Kurt W. = 94.5, W-L = 9-4
Tom B = 83.4, W-L = 14-4
Also, while BB has the lowest yards per game at a median of 217, Tom Brady has the second lowest at 222.
So much for airing it up being the answer to win a SB (consistently)!

Bleier, what the F is that? Data and analysis? That will get you nowhere. Just post prejudice and vitriol from now on, please.
I live in New England and the blowhards on sports talk here agreed that BR7 is better than Manning for winning games. Of course, they say he's a lousy passer, but is a "winner". Completely incongruous, but what could you expect considering the source.
Love the stat about yards per game. When you're winning, and you've got a good D, and your coach isn't a moron, you don't throw. Too many QB passing yard numbers are padded stats. Just give me the W's, baby.

Ill simplify this is about a paragraph or less.
Manning can have his regular season stats, Ben and Manning are usually about even in regular season wins anyways. But i'd rather have Mr. Clutch then the Tracy Porter express.
You hear the new bakery BF # 4 and Manning opened in minny? Its called "Specializing in Turnovers".

Re: manning v roethlisberger
When push came to shove Manning looked lost, and gagged in the face of immortality. Peyton called his own pow wow circa mid field, and chose to exercise his right as the leader of the Indianapolis Cub Scouts (the leagues top tent folding committee) to make a lame attempt at drawing a penalty rather than commit himself to save the season. There is the difference between Peyton Manning, and Ben Roethlisberger. Big Ben fought at all costs to preserve a chance at victory in 06 and inevitably saved "The One For The Thumb". Manning, in this career defining moment, decided that there are things more important than winning Super Bowls. Perhaps he wanted to ensure his regular season consecutive games started streak would continue to accumulate. What ever the reason, I'm glad that flamer isn't on my team .

Well, it's kinda like this (and to promote my own recent thread): if Manning was calling most of the plays, he's not only a douche, he's a selfish douche. Because it was plain to all that if the ponies would have let Addai run wild and free, the Saints clearly had no answer. Manning should have been dialing up Addai until Addai could be stopped if it was his call to make. Would BB do the same if up to him and the run game was going well or would he turn into a selfish gun slinger? It's hard to say because Arians is the OC. When BB goes no huddle and takes over himself in clutch moments (clutch is a necessary qualifier, b/c when it's not all on the line, BB can do some, err, interesting things), it's pure magic though. Thing is, Manning does it ALL THE TIME. From a team and w's and l's perspective, I take Ben any day, especially play off time. From a purely skill-set, single player perspective, are we really even having this conversation? Manning, easy. But then Manning has been in the league twice as long, seen twice as much and learned twice as much.
You asked with your eyes Trent, you asked with your eyes.

Ben brought the Burg (2) more rings...not much else to say on this one...
